Junoon Indian Cuisine — Restaurant in Ōrākei

One of the worst dining experiences ever had. We went as a family of 4 to celebrate my husband’s birthday and 2 out of 4 of us have were unwell with food poisoning afterwards.

The food itself is not good value for money - we ordered two biryanis and the lamb biryani had only 3 small pieces of meat, and the chicken biryani was incredibly sparse too.

At the very beginning of the night, the waitress spilled my husbands on the table/him with no apology, in fact she almost laughed. We actually had to ask the waitress to replace his drink and cutlery etc as 10 minutes had gone by with no apology or attempt to remedy things. At the end of the night, we saw on the receipt that the waitress tried to charge us for two drinks (despite the fact that one of them was spilled on the table)!

After we raised these issues, they did refund our biryanis and rectified the attempt to charge 2 x drinks. However, this took significant effort on our part as it seemed they were not interested.

We had a wonderful experience dining here last week. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy yet modern vibe that made it a perfect setting for our family dinner. The staff were attentive and friendly, greeting us with a smile and making sure we were comfortable throughout the evening. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations.

As for the food, it was absolutely fantastic. The flavors were delicious and well-balanced, and the biryani was cooked to perfection. You can really tell the chef has great skill in creating dishes that are full of flavor and satisfaction. Every bite was enjoyable, and we left feeling completely satisfied. Kids were happy in the end.

I ordered from this place using ‘Uber Eats’. I picked this place because of its rating on Uber Eats which was showing 4.9. Expected it to be good but was let down by the food. The Chicken Tandoori Tikka was not cooked properly. A couple of pieces in it were well cooked but the others were not. We have tried chicken tikka etc. at other places too and they’re melt in mouth kind. The chicken pieces in Butter Chicken too were the same, some cooked properly but mostly not cooked properly. The chicken was raw and pink inside. I literally threw everything in the bin. At last had Zeera Pulao and Dal Makhani. In fact the pulao was nice and Dal Makhani was ok, hence given 2 stars. We tried but unfortunately the experience was not good at all....
