I was very impressed with Paihia Pacific Resort Hotel. To be clear: It's not a resort and it is a bit of a dated hotel. Dated, but very clean and well looked after. I initially spoke to a very friendly gent at reception to inquire about the continental breakfast and wifi. The site I was booking on included breakfast in the price and stated that it has wifi in the common areas. The gent confirmed that strong wifi is in all the rooms (which it was). When I arrived I was allocated a room that had about 25 steps. Unfortunately as an older and bigger person, I can't climb all those stairs. Without as much as a frown or scowl he changed my booking to where there were only 7 steps. He also helped me park my car in their free space and helped carry my bag to my room. I was impressed with how he went above and beyond. The room had a big comfortable bed. They offer 4 different types of pillows ranging in thickness and hardness, as well as extra blankets. There is a fridge with coffee, tea, and milk. The room I had was perfect for a solo traveller. The continental breakfast was great! Fresh and tasty! It had everything you would need to start the day. I will definitely come back when it's warmer, so I can use that glorious pool. The place is a bit tired and can do with a bit of a spruce up, but for me it was fine, and it was reflected in the price. Don't come with champagne expectations when you're paying beer prices. It is clean, has all the amenities, has a great breakfast, and a lovely pool, it was very quiet, and a fantastic front desk service. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

We recently stayed at the Paihia Pacific Resort Hotel for two nights with our family, including two kids, and had an absolutely delightful experience. Upon arrival, the gentleman at the reception welcomed us warmly and surprised us with a complimentary room upgrade from a Premier to a Superior Queen Room at no additional cost. Our room was well-equipped, featuring complimentary coffee and tea bar, a convenient mini-fridge, a large LED TV, and an efficient air conditioning system that kept the room perfectly cool. The housekeeping service was excellent, ensuring everything was clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast, included in our stay, was another highlight. The lady managing the breakfast area was exceptionally kind and attentive, making sure all guests had access to a variety of fresh and delicious breakfast options. The hotel offers ample parking space, so we never had to worry about finding a spot. The kids especially loved the swimming pool, which became their favorite part of the stay! Additionally, the hotel's location is fantastic—just a short walk to Paihia Beach and Williams Road, where you can find great dining and shopping options. Overall, we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Our kids loved every moment, and we highly recommend it, especially for families traveling with children.

The rooms and grounds are in a state of disrepair that should be unacceptable - made more upsetting by the mid-range price point this hotel charges. It's also hard to raise your concerns with staff as we found the reception frequently un-staffed, and the reception closed from 7pm (it wasn't easy to tell if there was any night manager) is not generally what we would expect of a standard hotel. My particular dislikes were the rust in the shower (wear your flip-flops!), the pungent chemicals cupboard right beside our door, and the filthy windows that had been missed by room servicing before we arrived and during our stay. On the plus side, the staff (when you can find them) were very friendly, the wi-fi is excellent and the beds were comfortable and clean. Such a shame management does not look after their asset better - a few small repairs and we would have loved staying there.

NOT a very pleasant experience, we are on our last nights stay not to mention VERY LOUD guests we were out on the side with all the loud people... We have kids whom are on strict routine however couldnt get them to sleep due to arguments going on around the rooms.

FALSE advertising online showing pictures of a bar area when there isnt, no bbq area (lieing to customers doesnt help I will be asking to see what i can do about this as i do not want others staying here thinking its a luxury hotel) no spa or sauna pool are was dirty the gate was also open for my 3 year old to run in!!!!! Thats very unsafe, very old outdoor furniture dirty also. (A simple wipe DAILY to clean things down will probably make life easier) the whole outside is old and dirty, this place would be booming if it were taken care of PROPERLY!

Poor room service beds were not made, room 103 sliding door does not close properly so if you have kids they will get cold!! Pool absolutely disgusting not clean at all! Was given 1 toilet paper to 4 people wtf!

Debris/dust everywhere in the rooms (im an ex commercial cleaner)

Breakfast we didnt eat because IT WAS COLD WHICH WE PAYED FOR BEFORE ARRIVAL! Im also pregnant and couldnt eat any of the foods displayed i almost spewed looking at it, The breakfast menu needs to be clear from booking as it was just plain old same thing that not even my own kids eat.

As a MAORI of this whenau/land, i am saddened to know our whenua is being treated in such way me and my family have been to alot of hotels/lodges and air bnbs in paihia and they have all let us down id like to mention we are simple people but this felt like a nightmare.... Our anscestors wouldnt want this! Please take this into consideration!

As for the owners im assuming theyre asian you need to step your game up your on SACARED LAND! PLEASE TAKE CARE OF OUR WHENUA, TURANGAWAEWAE!

THIS PLACE IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER FROM WAITANGI THE SETTLEMENT PLACE WHERE OUR ANSCESTORS SIGNED THE TREATY ONLY TO HAVE OUR LAND STOLEN.

Honestly i thought it would have beeen a cool experience up here in paihia but it seems companies are all about MONI (MONEY) and not HE TANGATA HE TANGATA HE TANGATA (THE PEOPLE THE...

Would not recommend. No BBQ or Spa Pool as advertised. When asked about it they said they don't have the spa open during the Summer time, October onwards. Which is stupid because it is still cold at this time of year. And when we book motels, it's because there is a spa there. The BBQ was apparently broken. And due to change of ownership they haven't got another one yet. Sorry mate, not our problem. We had a whole family book quite a few rooms for a 60th Birthday. Travelling from all over NZ to be there and brought a lot of food to cook for dinners on the BBQ that was listed on their site. So all this food went to waste and we had to go and spend more money, which we couldn't afford on cooked food elsewhere. The sliding doors on the rooms wouldn't slide properly and it was hard to unlock the door. The WiFi was very very slow. The water tasted like dirt. The rooms are very run down and have just been patched up with whatever they could find. The restaurant advertised was closed. There was no working lights in the toilets in the main foyer area. One of the rooms required a portacot for a baby, that was asked for when making the booking. This was not setup in the room. Had to find staff member and ask, he said they don't have one. But then he did manage to find one, set it up and it was broken. But we managed to make it work. They did not service the rooms. We had to go and ask for more coffee and toilet paper. There was no care from the cleaners, milk had just been thrown in the fridge, room wasn't presented...
