Rotorua Canopy Tours was my first zip line experience and it was absolutely incredible. I’m from the U.S. and booked this months in advance of visiting in March, hoping it was a good idea. It was! Unlike other zip line experiences I’ve heard of, this tour integrates habitat conservation education into the experience (and uses customer business as a way to fund conservation in the old growth forests you’ll be ziplining through!). That in itself makes it worth it! But the views, comfort/safety, and guides were all above and beyond what I could’ve imagined. The guides (Taylor and Emma) really were the cherry on top— they were passionate about their jobs and excited to share anything and everything they knew about the forest and its inhabitants. They also were fun, happy, remembered everyone’s names, and treated us like adults. I’d definitely recommend adding this to your list if you’re visiting Rotorua.

A wonderful family experience! I would highly recommend this to anyone, even if you have a little trepidation when it comes to heights. The guides Emily and Ruben were exceptional and we felt comfortable and safe at all times. The ziplining was very exciting but I particularly enjoyed learning about the native forest and conservation efforts. A bonus to be able to hand feed some NZ robins too! The whole operation was superb from booking to the included photos that were sent post tour. We were on a father/son trip which involved many adventurous activities (rafting, bay of islands fishing, snorkeling, luge, jet boat, sandboarding, mountain biking etc.) but we both agreed that this was our favourite of all the things we did in NZ! Thank you so much Lucy and all the staff for accommodating us. A bucket list item for sure and we will definitely be back on our next trip to NZ.

Our family of five had an incredible time on the Ultimate Canopy Tour in Rotorua! Over four hours, we tackled six thrilling zip lines, gliding through the beautiful forest with stunning views from the treetops. Sam and Tara, our guides, were hilarious, knowledgeable, and made us feel completely safe—especially important since I’m afraid of heights. The tour wasn’t just about adventure; we also learned about the forest’s ecosystem and the efforts to trap pests, helping native wildlife and plants thrive again. They even captured group photos along the way, which they email afterward—just download them within three weeks! For your own photos, I recommend bringing a clear phone satchel with a neck strap to keep your phone secure. If you’re looking for a mix of fun, education, and natural beauty, this tour is a must-do. We had the most amazing time on our Original Canopy Tour. We started off as a group of 4 and unfortunately the couple with us called it quits early (despite our guides best efforts and support), so we were fortunate enough to have a very exclusive tour! This made for an incredible experience with our tour guides Sam and Jesse - who were both so knowledgeable (on all things related to the forest, conservation and New Zealand history) and full of fun and banter. They were the perfect mix of professional, and friendly which made the experience 100x better! The ziplines were extremely fun, but the forest itself was incredible - you can really see the difference the conversation efforts have made to the ecosystem. A real highlight was seeing and feeding all the birds! We will definitely be back to do the Ultimate Canopy Tour one day!

The Original Canopy Tour on December 6th at 10:15 am, led by the fantastic trio of Shane, Alex, and Reuben, exceeded our expectations. The safety briefing and procedures instilled confidence, ensuring a safe, fun, and meaningful experience. The tour guides, with their friendly and engaging demeanor, added a delightful touch to the adventure. The native forest’s beauty was breathtaking and it’s really interesting to learn about the challenges of maintaining such a lovely place and what they have done and are still doing to ensure the forest stays healthy and beautiful. The exhilarating ziplines added a thrilling dimension to the experience, resulting in memorable moments. The option to ride the zipline upside down was a highlight. Without a doubt, I give this experience a perfect 10/10 and highly recommend it to everyone!
