Went to the movies last night. Would have been a great time except one of the main speakers in the cinema was blown. Noticed it during the adverts and when we notified staff they said they already knew about it. Sorry, already knew about it? Then why were they charging people to screen a movie in a broken cinema? Pretty unacceptable to be frank. I appreciate that systems tire and equipment breaks but to continue screening films knowing you are unable to provide the audience an enjoyable experience is unhinged. I'll skip over the part where I blame increasing thirst for volume as the cause for the blown speakers and just put it down to aging equipment.
With movie viewership the way it is in 2024 you would think providing a quality product and customer retention would be top priorities for a cinema? This will certainly drive me away from visiting Reading cinemas the palms for quite some time. Much like any good relationship there needs to be some serious work done to repair any sense of trust between us and I think I've made the first step, now it's their turn to reciprocate.
For anyone keen to avoid the same heart break we experienced, it's theatre 4. But they already knew that.
Authors note: The cinema going experience outside of the above mentioned situation was, fine. Seats were good, screen was good, generally clean enough. The popcorn was however bellow average with a high ratio of kernel skins and small popcorn bits.
A one star review is not indicative of these factors. Outside of the speaker issue the review would be 3.5-4 stars. Above average but not by much. Unfortunately the speaker issue is such a major that it's pulled the review down to a measly one star. As an avid reviewer I hate one star reviews. I think they provide no useful information to the user. In this instance though I think it's necessary, as much for visibility as any other reason.
I will make a deal though; I'm not above that. If the cinema replies to me and informs me they have corrected the issue and resolved it with any affected customers personally, I will change the review to the more appropriate star rating for the...
Read moreMarch 2019 - still the best and value for money cinema. I just watched Captain Marvel and this cinema still have comfortable seats compared to Hoyts Riccarton and Northland. The pricing is now $11 per person for adult and children. There's a surcharge of $1.50 per ticket for credit card payment. It is still worth it. I am looking forward for the Avenger End Game in April 2019 🤗.
Would I go back? Yes ☺ Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. The seats are still comfy. Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Reasonable pricing. Plenty of parking.
10/03/16: Just finished watching Deadpool! Awesome movie, funny and lots of swear words + some raunchy scenes. Anyway, this cinema 🎦 is slightly smaller than the two Hoyts cinemas. But it is cheaper than them as the adult ticket is only $10. I also bought a drink and popcorn 🍿medium-sized combo for $8.50. Total cost $18.50 and I love every moment. A good way to chill out. It has a good surround sound system Dolby 7.1, which makes watching the movie even more enjoyable 😁. The only downside is the location as most of the people have moved to other places. As for me, I need to drive from the other side of town to catch the movie.
Would I go...
Read moreThe cinema was the Premium one (Cinema 4) however the three star rating is due to the fact the cinema itself was pitch black and we could not see our seats let alone get to them. There was a group of people with special needs including a pregnant woman and elderly woman who needed assistance. This was set to be a health and safety issue if all of us movie patrons to the Elvis film hadn't taken our phones out and used their torch 🔦 screen functions to light the way for everyone. Ironically the lights and sound came on when the Previews were set to start. The film and sound quality was absolutely amazing and the seats were comfortable and easy to relax and enjoy a great movie with lots of space between each person and each row, making the overall premium experience worth going to. Alot of that was due to the Film itself being an absolute masterpiece of emotion, history in recreation and acting so superb you felt you were there. We cried at the end. Bravo 👏👏 Austin Butler and Tom Hanks did a fine job....
