Mi Amor Mexican Cantina — Local services in Christchurch

I ordered a Lamb Quesadilla which was a bit dry but with some sour cream & Guacamole it was just okay, I’ve had much better from Chiwahwah Mexican restaurant. However that wasn’t my issue, I also ordered “Birria tacos” and all I can say is DISGUSTING AND HORRENDOUS. Before I ordered I looked at the reviews of this place and the photos of the food specifically the food I wanted to order and let me just tell you the Birria tacos TOTALLY different from what I received, stale tortilla like rock hard, DRY meat, a slightly weird taste, and really BURNT MEAT and totally uneatable. As if someone had scraped the charred meat off the grill and put it in my food! 0000000/10 See photo below! As for the “consommé it’s like dirty water w no flavour. I took a bite and couldn’t swallow and I love food and I’m not a picky eater at all, so that says a LOT, after one bite I already feel sick. I’m glad I got a refund.

Also for taking 40 minutes before I even received my order you’d think it would’ve been much better quality, unfortunately the quality...

The fried chicken is amazing, full of flavour and juicy! The birria tacos however not good. I don't know if I came on a bad day, but there was a big pool of grease on the bottom of the container, the tacos were literally drowning in grease. I don't mind a bit of grease, but these were inedible, it's a shame because the flavour and the consommé were actually good. I see others also complaining about greasiness, so might try again if they take on board the feedback and tone down the oiliness

Edit: Since you replied with an explanation I will change my rating to a 4. Going off the photos of other customers though, I still think I got a lot more grease than normal. The pool of grease went above the first layer of the taco shell, so I know that's not normal. I will try again hoping that it was...

I have had two servings from here. First time, I ordered a chicken fajita. Hot, juicy and flavours were good. Quite a lot of oil though. And the size of the meal would fit comfortably on a small saucer plate.

Second serving, was prawn fajitas. Complete disappointment. Prawns were either pre-cooked or were VERY overcooked. Either way they were definitely cooked too much. Tough and chewy. I did not eat them. They were not enjoyable. Sizing, again could fit on a little plate.

They come with two tortillas. For an odd 20 dollas or so, for this meal! I do not recommend buying this as the serving portions are not worth 20 bucks. I AM NOT KIDDING YOU! There are better options out there. And definitely DONT buy the shrimp lol.
