The Drawing Room — Attraction in Christchurch

STOP going to big box art shops and start coming here! I always have a great time at the Drawing Room and I always learn a little bit more about art from the people who work there. I'm someone who's drawn and painted my entire life but never actually learned techniques, what materials I should use, etc, so I've always felt a bit silly being in art stores when in reality I felt like an imposter! The staff at the Drawing Room are always so friendly and helpful and I never feel intimidated to admit I have no idea what I'm doing and need help. The owners always have such great advice and are very aware of cost points which I'm super appreciative of, and their regular staff are always great too. The wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable staff make a good shop great; This shop is certainly a great shop! I took a trip here last week for some pens and left with exactly what I was looking for plus a heap of advice about the projects I'm working on. Local artwork showcased throughout the large well stocked shop floor from postcards to painting, inks to epoxy. Stock choices are clearly made through experience working with it give The Drawing Room all of the touches that make a good independent art shop such as this the place to go. Exceptional service, they really go above and beyond, offering expert advice and excellent prices, with tonnes of generous sales on so many items. I was thrilled to find a huge selection of paints, all high quality, at a range of different price points and set sizes to suit budget and needs. There was a great range of high quality paper pads, much better than you’d find at a stationary or big box store yet priced similar, if not better, and of much much higher quality. They even have a customer loyalty reward system.
