My husband and I dined for the first time at this restaurant. I ordered Manchurian and Momos. The waitress first said, “we don’t have veg Momos” so I settled for paneer momos and then she comes back and says, “would you be okay with fried momos instead of steamed momos?” I said ok that’s fine given I had no choice. The food comes out after 1hr and the momos was not even palatable. I told her, “I can’t eat it because it is so hard.” She said, “mam you said you wanted fried momos and this is what it is.” Totally an unacceptable answer. They did take it back and I had to settle for another item. What made me angry is she should have been honest in the beginning and instead said we don’t have it so I could have been able to make a different choice and not feel like I had to order something to make up for the horrible momos. The Manchurian was delicious so I felt it redeemed to three stars rather than one. Also the owner did acknowledge and apologized for the delay in our food. We were at 29sweets about 2.5 months ago from wanaka and I'm blown away by the exceptional dining experience at 29 sweets ! This 100% pure veg and vegan restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way.

The prices are incredibly affordable, but the quality is top-notch. We stayed in Christchurch for 3days and we tried almost many dishes, and sweets as well and was not only delicious but also expertly prepared with fresh, vibrant ingredients.

The service was warm and attentive, the atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it perfect for any occasion.

As a 100% pure vegetarian it's often challenging to find restaurants that cater to my dietary needs, but 29sweets truly shines. The menu offers a diverse range of innovative and mouth-watering options that are sure to satisfy any palate.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, friendly service and the most incredible aroma of fresh sweets. The variety is outstanding – from traditional Indian mithai to modern fusion treats, everything is beautifully presented and tastes even better.

We especially loved the Ghewar, Golgappe, and Amritsari Kulcha – absolute standouts! The Ghewar was so good, we even bought 10 pieces to take home – because nothing beats the taste of Ghewar during Sawan. It brought back such nostalgic memories of home and festive times in India.

The quality and freshness were top-notch, and it’s clear they take pride in every detail. Whether you’re after a small treat or a special gift box, this is the place to go in Christchurch.
