⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 An absolute gem in Orewa!
Te Ara Tahuna Estuary Cycleway and Walkway is a beautiful 8km loop that offers a perfect mix of nature, serenity, and activity. We walked the full loop on a sunny day with close friends, and it was nothing short of amazing. 🌞
The track is well-maintained, mostly flat, and suitable for all fitness levels – whether you’re walking, jogging, or cycling. Along the way, you’ll enjoy a variety of scenic views including lush greenery, peaceful estuary waters, and charming boardwalks.
There are plenty of rest spots, informative signs about the local ecosystem, and even a few playgrounds and picnic areas. Great for families, couples, or solo adventurers looking to unwind.
Spending time here felt rejuvenating, and doing it with good company made it even more special. Highly recommend this track for anyone visiting or living near Orewa. A true local treasure! 🌿🚶♂️🚴♀️💚

I am not going on it again to look at mansions for the rich! I was looking forward to riding under a bush path surrounded by trees. But it is destroyed for good! Those Mansions are a waste of space! We should make a stand against developers...
Read moreAmazing waterside concrete walking path wonderful for winter. 7.5km with options to visit halfway cafes at millwater shops and Estuary Arts centre. For more distance go on the estuary side of sports grounds and stormwater pond near Millwater shops. Or walk to beach at mouth of estuary on either side as an extra. Great on lead winter walk for a fit dog. The south mouth of the estuary is also an off leash dog beach, although this track is on leash. Obviously it is also a popular cycle way, the cyclists are friendly and polite. I just try not to let the dog's lead...
