Amazing waterside concrete walking path wonderful for winter. 7.5km with options to visit halfway cafes at millwater shops and Estuary Arts centre. For more distance go on the estuary side of sports grounds and stormwater pond near Millwater shops. Or walk to beach at mouth of estuary on either side as an extra. Great on lead winter walk for a fit dog. The south mouth of the estuary is also an off leash dog beach, although this track is on leash. Obviously it is also a popular cycle way, the cyclists are friendly and polite. I just try not to let the dog's lead clothesline them :).

I wish there were high-quality pathways like this in the U.K. At the beginning and end, there are enjoyable scenic views taking you around an estuary on smooth concrete paths and wooden bridges. The middle section takes you onto main roads servicing residential housing estates and some on pathways on busy main roads(smsll the diesel from the traffic). Can be quite busy in summer at weekends. It can be quite confusing to complete the 8k loop because signs are quite poor in giving you directions.

This is a great local estuary cycle track for having a jog around or cycle around. During high tide you can also bring your SUP or kayak down the river from the boat ramp. We live nearby and this is definitely one of the local jewels to relax, exercise or entertain your kids. Orewa beach and shops are just 5 mins walk from the Orewa bridge. This means you can take a longer walk to grab an ice cream for the kids or fish and chips for a snack on the beach.

The portion of the path near the coast is quite nice, but the section through the newer housing is pretty uninspiring. This part also lacks any signage so it is hard to follow the route. Overall the signs are very poor, so it pays to pay attention to the maps at the main entry points. There are some beautiful views at points around the loop, but the lack of effort to add any interest to the newer section spoils the overall experience.

Low impact ride, however you the opportunity to go on road routes and come back to the track. Could do with better signage when on the path as it does not tell you where you are on the map. Plenty of car parking on site as well as changing rooms for parents and bathrooms. Water fountains in some locations or you can stop in at one of the shops for any refreshments required

A great alternative for a walk if the tide is too high at Orewa Beach. We usually park at the Arts Centre then head across the bridge. The full walk is 7.6km which takes just over an hour to walk. (If you walk the full length of Orewa beach from the carpark opposite the Arts Centre to the Scout Hall and back it’s 6.3km, 1hr 15 mins)
