Looking for an authentic French tart. This is the place for you then! During the day, it operates as a cafe selling authentic French pastries made on premises, coffees, and a range of breakfast meal options. Big breakfast is just over $17 and would satisfy the biggest appetite. The cafe and also an ice cream parlor are open during the day, and the restaurant is open at night. We had morning tea in the cafe, plum tart, ham & cheese croissants, which were delicious and coffees in the morning. Iced coffees weren't impressive, although full of coffee flavor, they were too watery for our palate. We prefer thick and creamy consistency. At night, our group prebooked and went back for a meal in the restaurant. The food was absolutely superb! There is a wide range of starters, entrees , mains, and desserts to choose from. Including a separate pizza menu. Fully licensed, there is also a wide range of wines, available by glass or bottle and spirits, too. As I mentioned, the food was superb, 9 out of 10. Service was also good. Very friendly staff! Prices are average. The only suggestion I have is to play some soft music and dim lights in the restaurant to give some ambience. Of the 20 tables available, only 2 were not reserved, so I highly recommend you book beforehand. The cafe & restaurant is located on the main road into Orewa and across the street is the beach. We will be coming...
Read moreFood is great and the service, which is the reason why I've been going there for some years, but I've got to say that I'm surprised at the price increases for the pollo fettuccine which is what I usually get. Since February when it was $24 it has gone up three times. In March when I visited it went up to $26 and stayed at that price for some months up to my visit on the 3rd August. The next time I went there was on the 20th August and it had increased to $27 which I was still happy to pay but surprised it had gone up yet again. But today I was shocked to be asked to pay $31.50, which is a big price increase and also being one done in less than a month? I'm really not sure why it has gone up yet again and this time so much, as to my knowledge the pollo fettuccine ingredients haven't changed and food prices haven't gone up that much in such a short span of time, so this jump just appears to be plain greedy and one I really don't wish to support. I'd rather go somewhere where the prices stay the same and not jump up regularly in such a short time span so then I'm not left surprised when it comes to pay the bill for the meal. Happy to hear genuine reasons as to the reason why the prices have...
Read moreAMAZING! What a truly wonderful dining experience Faridas gave us. Food flavors and presentation is 5 star hotel quality but more generous servings, relaxed atmosphere and gorgeous view over to Orewa Beach. Don't bother town center overcrowded noisy parking nightmare. Venture down the road and experience some truly amazing food and service. Unassuming outside hides a true hidden gem. Beer on tap, decent wine selection, fabulous friendly staff and loads of parking on side street. The food deserves a proper review. Shrimp and ravioli entree were flavoursome and I really wanted to lick my plate as sauce was soooo good. You know my meat man is in the unofficial Google steak reviewer and he gave the filet mignon 15 out of 10. Tender juicy meat, tasty fragrant red wine sauce, mash and greens. Outstanding. As was my chicken parmiganiano - no deep fried chicken here. Moist chicken with cheese and tomato topping served with beautiful vegetables. We managed to squeeze in a desert and I recommend sticky date pudding for those wanting something sweet while the pofitirols were a treat and not something you see on a menu often. WOW! Well done team. We will be...
