Orewa Beachcomber — Hotel in Hibiscus and Bays

Just thought i would pass this on the general public . We are a retired couple that had a booking at this Motel for two nights to the value of $475.00. We got a ph call from Scotland that my wife father was in hospital and only had a couple of days to live but past away that night so i phoned the Motel to cancel booking that week as we had to fly to Scotland as soon as possible and the man said no problem we could leave it as a credit to use later so we took this in good faith we were over there for several months to help family.

We have been back in contact with the motel twice and spoken to the woman that is the manager or owner that had a very shocking attitude and had a very rude way of speaking to customers she now tells us we should have done this credit by email . You can imagine what state we were in father just died thousands of KM away the other side of the world so we just took there word at the time and now we feel we have not been treated very honestly . All we wanted to do was use the credit up and make another booking that we were told they would hold for us to use at a later date . we have stayed there other times and really enjoyed being just across from the beach and the surf life club such a shame to be treated this way under the...

The rooms are all different and a lot of thought has gone into the design of each room. There is a shortage of power plugs in the kitchen, the sink was blocked, one of the bedroom doors they had painted over the hinges and door latch the handle kept turning but I could not get out of the room. The room is for 4 people told there is only one flannel ever per room, at $200 a night you share a flannel in the shower ?. Only one serving of plunger coffee when I asked for another serving I was informed no sorry. Both the containers in the bathroom and the shower had been filled incorrectly one shampoo the other conditioner hence there was no soap at all anywhere, this I found out when I was in the shower reading the labels, bit late...

We stayed in a deluxe 1 brm unit and were really impressed, suited us well. Owners are very good natured and attentive hosts who took pride in their accommodation. A lot of thought has gone into the standard and variety of décor, plus fit out, very clever use of space, everything you needed seemed to be there, no clutter, everything provided was of use, lovely towels, excellent heating, a nice choice of tea's, coffee's, chilled water on arrival (no packets (:), good off street parking, quiet, and great to be walking distance to everything.
