After 5 years of bringing my social group to the Surf Club every month (except during its receivership), I was very disappointed with the service this evening. I always book upstairs to avoid the noise downstairs, and this booking was confirmed midweek and again the day before. On arrival, I was told no table was available upstairs.
When I asked for the Cafe General Manager, he seemed uninterested and blamed the digital booking system. Only after prompting did he offer a sarcastic apology. We were then seated downstairs, but after receiving our drinks, a waiter informed us we’d have to leave within 60 minutes due to another booking—even though we usually stay around two hours, continuing to order food and drinks.

Fantastic service, cold drinks and wonderfully hot large chips my best this year.
