Got there early as the Orewa Rodders Beach Festival was on and expected it would be very busy soon, likely be the busiest day of the year as thousands of people attend the car show outside and across the road. Luckily it was pretty quiet on arrival, maybe our group and one other. Ordered two coffees and two muffins. Lady taking the orders obviously had English as a second language so explained exactly what the coffee order was again in a clearer nice way as you could see she wasn't understanding. (ordered Flat White with 2 sugars and half strength Latte (I shouldn't drink full strength due to medical issues) with a vanilla shot, pretty straight forward) After 20 minutes had to chase up the coffee, both then arrived and were both wrong, no sugar for the flat white and latte was full strength, no vanilla. Went back and asked for the Vanilla and sugar I got off another table. Then another 10-15 minutes later had to chase up the muffins, and the vanilla, got one muffin and told they'd bring the vanilla and other muffin out. Went back again another 10 minutes later and got both in person. Should have read the review before this one. You'd expect if someone is public facing, especially on a very busy day, they would have a reasonable ability to take orders, and get them correct, clearly this lady didn't. Other friends were there first, that's why we stopped here. They also had big delays getting their coffee (that's all they ordered). All disappointed. Other friends also arrived while we were sitting there and we advised them to go to another cafe further down the road, which they did. Won't be going back. I also think the response given to the previous reviewer is a bit rude and they should take the feedback a little better and provide a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile visiting from the States, we attempted to dine with our New Zealand relatives at the Pine House Cafe.
The atmosphere was thoroughly unimpressive. Our hostess was quite possibly the waitress and the cook ... she seemed quite anxious that we were not ordering right away and told us that if we didnāt order within ten minutes, we would need to leave as there was a reservation for our table. We were the only ones in the cafe and were quite put off by this remark.
Iāve left one star, as I was not able to dine, and donāt really know if the food was good or not.
We ended up at The Walnut Cottage up the road a bit and ate wonderful food in a charming environment served by lovely people.
Donāt waste your time at the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHmmm, it was the kind of meal and presentation Iād expect from the middle of nowhere rather than Orewa. We walked from the estuary and stopped here because we thought weād give it a shot. My no frills Frittata was ok, and hubby was ok with his pork pie. The scone I doubt was fresh today as dry and crumbly. My red seal peppermint tea, is what it is, but couldāve cut the tab off before dropping it in the hot water. As has been said earlier, clean dishes need to improve and the deck area could do with a smarten up. I know COVIDās affected everyoneā¦If you used this feed back to make simple improvements it would make a lot...
