Mitre 10 shopping is not my favourite shopping experience, I have been there every day for the last 5 Days as I work in close proximity to Mitre 10. I have never seen so many unhelpful shop assistants, so many with scowling sad faces, even when you are trying to give them money. I had been looking for a bracket for a kitchen kick-board and my friend had been buying a mailbox.
I'd been in touch with the importer who told me that they couldn't sell directly to me that I'd have to go to their Retailer, which was Mitre 10 and on entering Mitre 10 I assumed that it would be an easy task because the place was over run with orange shirts? And they would be falling over themselves to help me out because they spend hundreds of thousands of $$$$$$'s advertising their wares BUT oh no no, everyone ducked for cover. They told me that someone would call me back (they didn't), then after my 5th trip in as many days and I am almost crawling up the wall I am interrupted (while I am in full flight trying to get help) by a lady named Wei Wei. A lady who carries a tape measure in her back pocket, she was so amazing, and she was an angel, she knew exactly what I was looking for and knew how to go about getting it. Okay it was only a $2.00 item, I only wanted one and I had to buy the pack which had 10 in it, but honestly I probably would have paid a hundred bucks for it because she was so helpful, kind and knowledgable. Mitre 10 take a leaf out of Wei Wei's book and get your staff trained and teach them to smile. I may just come back to shop here because of WeiWei. If you give poor service, most of us generally don't say anything, not a word ... but guess what? We won't come...
Read morePoor customer service and misleading and deceptive conduct in my opinion on two separate occasions. The first time I had purchased 2 of exactly the same weedeaters for two different properties. One works well the other has ongoing problems. I took the faulty one back within 3 months of purchase because it would not run properly and they charged me for a carburettor service. The problem returned in 2 months and rather than replacing it, they sent it away to the technician again - this time they claimed it was old fuel(the other weedeater works perfectly well on the same fuel and they are the exactly the same weedeater!). The problem returned again. I had to argue with the service team before Xmas to exchange it which eventually they did. Then yesterday I went to buy a wet dry vaccum. This was advertised on the Mitre 10 website and in store on display at $399. Bunnings have these for $395 - so I asked about the Mitre 10 price match . The Mitre 10 price match offers that if a competitor has the same item in stock, at a lower price than the Mitre 10 advertised price, Mitre 10 will beat the competitors price by 15%. Initially, Mitre 10 refused to do this and said their price was also $395 - the same as Bunnings despite their price in store and online saying $399 - $5 more than Bunnings. They then tried to ring Bunnings stores hoping that Bunnings were out of stock, so that they did not have to honor the price match but of course Bunnings had stock - disgraceful - misleading and deceptive in my opinion - I will never shop at Mitre 10 Mt Wellington again -...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer at this store since it opened. As a local trade business, we regularly shop here and at Bunnings Mt Wellington, depending on what we need. Being nearby, this store has always been convenient for us.
However, I need to raise a concern that has been bothering me and my staff for quite some time. There is a tall, slim Indian man with glasses, I’m not sure if he is a manager, staff member, or security, who constantly makes us feel uncomfortable. Every time we visit, he closely watches us, looks at our hands, and asks things like, “Are you going to buy that?” It feels as though we’re being treated with suspicion for no reason.
On a recent visit with my wife and 13-year-old daughter, he kept staring at my daughter in a way that was very unsettling. Whether he thought she was doing something wrong or not, his behaviour was inappropriate and unprofessional.
We understand staff need to be aware of store activity, but following customers around and making them feel watched is not the way to do it. If a customer needs help, they will ask.
For contrast, there is another Indian gentleman — medium build, who I believe is the actual manager. He always greets us politely and focuses on his work without making anyone feel uncomfortable.
I hope this feedback is taken seriously. No customer should feel unwelcome or uncomfortable while shopping. I’d appreciate it if someone could address this with the staff member...
