Deli Roasts Napier — Attraction in Napier

BAD SERVICE. Ordered the chicken meal and it tastes absolutely off. I have had this happen to me before with the same meal maybe a year ago and hadn't ordered since. Ordered again thinking/hoping it would be just a one-off. Unfortunately it happened again! So this time I decided to bring the matter to their attention. The guy tasted the chicken in the cabinet and told me there's nothing wrong with it. I told him I couldn't eat it as it tastes off and it tastes like fish not chicken. I thought he would find a solution maybe offer my money back or ask if I wanted anything else from the menu instead. He got all upset and defensive gave my money back and said not to go back there again. I was in shock as I'm am a good regular customer, I did nothing wrong and was civil about the whole thing, he wasn't. He also brought up the matter that it was $2 for gravy and I mentioned I always saw it as $1, but I was ok with it I gave $2 but he had an issue with it when I told him about the condition of the chicken. Not sure why he brought that up as I paid $2...

DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL, Went in to get a lamb meal and saw the lady cutting pork in the board. I kindly asked the young boys, which I assume are the sons of the lady making the meals, if it was possible to cut my meat on a separate board and with a separate knife because I am allergic to pork to which she replied no rudely than proceeded to say that they can wash the knife but they only have one board for chopping all the different meats on, which in my opinion is a healthy and safety hazard for handling meats as everything is being cut on one board, cross contamination comes into play. My partner than said thats not okay because either have allergies and we would prefer a refund to which she rudely gave back her money and I even said thank you to her but she was so rude. We were recommended by a local and thought we'd try it out as were missing the roasts from home! We found the serving sizes great especially the meat - other places can be stingy but we felt like we got good value for money. The price has gone up a couple dollars recently which we didn't really understand and might have appreciated if they had a sign or something to explain why... but we still feel like it's worth it. The owners are friendly and the place always looks clean. Never had any problems with food poisoning or anything like that just...
