I loved this place. It is unusual for a shop to be so entertaining - I can't think of one more so than this. i.e. it isn't just a shop where you can buy perfume and aftershave, but it is a really lovely experience as well. There is a great video that introduces the shop and Francesco (the shop owner), and then you can explore the shop and experience all the incredibly variety of scents. Francesco explained to us how it all worked and answered all of our questions and then we could try all the different smells which were broken down into different groups like NZ scents, seasons, male aftershave and ladies perfume. It was all done in a very hygenic way and with little bottles of coffee beans to re-neutralize your smelling between scents which worked great. There is even a scent/smelling puzzle game to guess what various things are (by smelling them and there is also a clue as to what they are) and if you get a certain number of them correct then you win a small prize (a small bottle of perfume for us). All of that experience for no cost at all - it is entirely up to you whether you actually buy any products just like a regular shop. If you are heading up the cable-car to the Wellington Botanical Gardens then I thoroughly recommend a visit to this place for half...

Absolutely loved this quirky perfumery tucked away at the top. It’s much larger than it appears from the outside and such a unique experience. The gentleman running the shop is immaculately dressed to match the whimsical theme and couldn’t be more welcoming. He’s clearly passionate about his craft, patiently sharing his knowledge and love for perfumery with every visitor who walks through the door.

The shop is beautifully curated, with their signature scents displayed in elegant bottles and thoughtful visual touches throughout. You’ll find samples of fragrance notes, framed photos, and even a cozy little nook downstairs where you can watch a short documentary about the fascinating origins of the business. They also offer perfume workshops, making it a great spot to linger and explore.

Comfy seating areas invite you to relax and soak in the atmosphere, and since it’s connected to the café next door, you can easily pick up a new fragrance and pop over for a coffee. Highly recommend stopping by- it’s a charming and...

I was absolutely delighted by this shop. The beautiful layout, the enchanting decor, the gentlemanly, erudite perfumer; it was like stepping out of 21st century Wellington and into a Parisian perfumery during La Belle Époque. And that is to say nothing of the perfumes themselves! A generous but not overwhelming selection of high quality scents were on offer, from flowers to seasons to perfumes for men and women. My young daughter and I had a wonderful time smelling each of the samples, guided by the helpful, earnest, and absolutely lovely owner. On top of everything, the perfumes are affordable, and come in a variety of formats to facilitate gift-giving. I will be...

Hands-down, one of the coolest places I've ever been in my entire life!!! Owner Francesco has gone above and beyond to create an amazing shop that's like stepping back in time, thanks to the mind-blowing attention to detail. His perfumes are so beautiful and I'm just amazed that he creates some of the ingredients from scratch. They are really lovely, delicious-smelling blends... it was hard for me to choose just one that I liked best. We are truly blessed to have a real legitimate perfume expert (French trained) in our country. He is one of a kind! Thank you Francesco for your amazing work and your stunning shop.

Stumbled upon this unique perfume shop while at a cable car stop. It was an eclectic space filled with fascinating information on fragrance notes, scent wheels and history of perfumery. However, the store layout was a bit confusing (even the name was somewhat unclear - all banners referred to ‘Victorian Perfumery’ only until you actually got to the store). Some sections felt more like museum-style exhibits, which made it hard to know which fragrances were for sampling and which were purely for display. I also wish I'd known about their workshops before my trip, as it would have been great to attend one!
