I can follow my own program at my own pace.
The staff at the gym are senitive to my needs. Mainly, to be left to do my own thing. I appreciate their judgement.
With other people they are equally sensitive, supportive, and encouraging.
At all times they are professional and highly skilled. If you want a program to take you on a journey just ask. If you just want to do your own thing, also your choice.
The people I see have all body shapes, are all ages, all genders, and have a diverse range of needs. All are made welcome.
My experience of the other people who use the gym is that they are polite and respectful. Some of them are really advanced in what they do and are expertly coached to reach the next level. Some of people at the gym are being supported on their first steps. Nobody is made to feel weak because of where they are today.
My sense is that you can do your own thing and that everyone respects that position.
The equipment is good. The space and access is good. I run a one hour self directed HIT weight programme three times a week. No delays no waiting.
If I needed support, I am sure the staff would give it to me.
I accessed the gym at 700 hours this morning beacause that suited my day. On Wednesday I was there at 1530 because that suited my day. On Sunday I might go at 600 hours or I might not. Either way, this works for me.
I have tried several gyms in Wellington over the last 15 years. This is the best I have found. I am into year two this time around. Six years in total. Just worth it.

Read moreThe most overpriced gym in the area. Firstly, the opening hours are NOT the same as advertised on the door. If you live in the nearby apartments and think you'll have time to use the gym or sauna after dinner, you're wrong. Secondly, don't bother paying for the sauna. Not only is the sauna constantly broken, missing heaters, or not turning on, the sauna also only gets to around 49 degrees. Third, the staff are extremely condescending. I took a personal trainer session and, despite being a quite fit rock-climber, the trainer insisted on teaching me how to do a pushup. When I explained that I wanted to learn how to use the weights and machines, I was told that I'd graduate to that after this session. It seemed clear that they'd string you along with degrading exercises until you pay for more sessions to learn something beyond primary-school PE. Don't confuse the quiet atmosphere for a judgement free, peaceful environment. I imagine the members are simply silently fuming at being locked into extortionate prices for a terrible gym.
FYI, they never emailed me after the...

The environment at the gym is equally impressive. It is friendly, welcoming, and well-maintained, creating a positive atmosphere that makes working out enjoyable and stress-free.
