We had not a very pleasant interaction with one of the waiters. She came to check if we wanted to order yet twice in 3 minutes. She just came over and said « are you ready? », we had already said we needed a bit more time as we were ordering food and drinks and it’s a two page menu! She then couldn’t be bothered to come over a third time to just started waving the eftpos machine in our direction. We didn’t see so some other customers had to tell us she was doing this. So she finally comes over a third time. We both say hello (my partner and I), she on the other hand said nothing and just waiting for us to speak. We ordered and she left. No politeness at all from her! We were quite confused and upset. Then she went to another waiter and clearly told her we had been annoying as she came over a couple of times to let us order and we weren’t ready (within a couple of minutes). She was laughing and the other waitress too and then they both looked at us, then very quickly looked away sheepishly. This experience made us not want to even eat here but we had already paid unfortunately. All the other staff were lovely! And the food was super yum! This waitress ruined our experience out! I emailed the to make them aware of their staffs actions and got this email I’ve attached

The cafe offers a nice retreat after a scenic walk around the garden. It’s close to the rose garden and botanical gardens centre. Staff are also friendly and provide quick service. Food was a little disappointing, for the price. The pulled bbq pork on toast/ciabatta was a bit sloppy, and didn’t arrive with kūmara fries as stated. The shoestring fries that came out instead were boring and were bland. The eggs Benedict was quite overcooked which was disappointing. The mushroom medley was quite delicious, and one of the better options. The cafe did seem busy, so perhaps it was just a one-off experience? Quite a decent experience with the gardens, but by itself, was a little underwhelming.

Excellent brunch cafe here in the Wellington Botanic Gardens! Great convenient venue, we were walking the city to sea walkway when we stopped by. We received fabulous service from the enthusiastic and charismatic blonde guy who knew all the good things to get, and was the right level of attentive! Food was delicious & filling. The only other feedback I’d give is that there was a closed mussel in our chowder and bits of shell, which you’d expect all 3 of your mussels to be open when you pay $30 a bowl, which was otherwise spot on. The house smoked salmon salad nicoise was incredible. We highly recommend both dishes! We will be back again :)

Dumb founded after previous experiences here a year ago. Coffee compared to Ngaranga Gorge where Tradies line up all day and use Supreme beans, gardens extremely poor in comparison when they don't know the difference between a flat white and a latte for the average art work. With no purging between drinks adding to a woody taste, not using a thermometer when steaming as it was cold, right down to banging air bubbles out, the technique of pouring was for a flat white and telling service there was a problem!e. Yes I am a coffee barister who wanted to teach her, so doing a proper latte where the fats are stretched so doubling the overall volume reduces your overhead compared to a flat white and its obvious that you are cutting back on costs. Then to be told "it's only one mans opinion. " no it wasn't it was mine in addition to that and Mobil Johnsonville who make it by hand flying solo while serving other customers and some McDonald's serve better coffee. I recommend you need to hang out with the coffee cart at the bottom of Ngaranga Gorge to learn about coffee and then the art, as there is a 100% difference. So sad 😞 Food- better quality and value for money in Johnsonville or Ngaio. Part of my bacon was over cooked and half wasn't. A soggy mess of a meal except for the bananas. Even Twiglands on the way to Tawa where it's busy including outside seating in the gardens, value for portion much better and both places are out of my way. Take a trip to Petone even city end of Waterloo road in the Hutt for something special on your day off overall much more worth it. Glad I found out before I got married there. Embarrassment for the tourist season soon. Would have thought they had...

We were met with a very friendly staff member who told us to pick a seat, and that he would bring a bottle of water and glasses over and a high chair for our little one. We sat outside, was a lovely day weather wise. Very busy as it was lunch time. We had a bowl of fries and a plate of crepes, and milkshakes. Our orders came fairly quick considering how busy they were. The fries were excellent but the crepe was disappointing, you're not getting what you pay for! The milkshakes tasted like a diluted cream sort (cheap!), again not getting the quality you pay for. There are signs everywhere asking people not to feed the ducks and sparrows, which is all good and well, but there were so many tables that were left as is when the customers left, for so long, that the sparrows had their fill before it finally got cleared away. Makes the signs a bit redundant. There were people with their dogs there too, which is nice if the dogs are well-behaved and leashed (which they were) but I wonder what the policy of the café is if there are rowdy dogs, or children who have phobias of dogs? I think it may pay to set up a separate 'doggy cafe' area like The Chocolate Fish have done. We also never received our bottle of water and only once our orders arrived and we'd started tucking in did staff ask if we wanted a highchair for bubs. Not saying this place is good or bad as it has its pros and cons, but there is definitely room for...
