Freyberg Beach — Attraction in North Island

Fantastic man made beach! Brilliant views of the wellington harbour. You can see the ferrys crossing the harbour going to & from the north/south islands and above you can see aircrafts flying to there destinations. There is bike riding equipment (Quad-cycle) or scooters for hire that you & your family can ride along the oriental walkway on. You can also ride your own bike or skateboard along this walkway as there is plenty of labelled space for walkers/runners or cyclists. There are also cafes/dairies along this beach if you need something to snack on. My favourite (2) places to eat/drink is the old tug boat restaurant on the waterfront - Good prices/freshly cooked food & lastly the other is a pycard type old vw vehicle that sells coffees and delicious icecream at pretty good prices too. Also there is a childrens playground and picnic tables if you want to have a picnic with the family. This beach also has Freyberg swimming pools which has a gym also - price is ok. Lots & lots to do here. It is also close by to "Te Papa Muesum" if you are looking for other adventure! Enjoy...

Lovely beach located in Oriental Bay, Wellington. The beach has yellow/white sand, a small playground, changing and toilet facilities and a shaded grasssed area. Being an inner harbour beach there is very little surf (what waves there are, are very gentle). There is also an ice cream/gelato shop nearby.
