Kia Ora Switchedonbikes,

This past weekend Saturday I booked in for a test ride to assess your bikes for a possible upcoming commute.

I wasn't expecting to be allotted up to an hour to familiarise myself and had assumed 10 - 20 minutes.

I was blown away in around 50 minutes I headed around to Haitaitai Bay. Then up through the village ascended Mt Victoria to the summit.

Returning through Newtown I was astounded to note that I'd clicked 17 kilometers including the ascent and barely broken a sweat.

Thank you for the opportunity to trial your well specced and maintained bikes. Your enthusiasm for all things electric and bicycle mechanical permeates your business.

And the information you provided alongside every other consideration was appreciated at a time when you were clearly busy. And with queues of public all around.

The Bosch mid-drive was quiet and powerful. See you again soon.

And hopefully I'll pick a quieter time when there aren't throngs of people.

Nga mihi nui David/Dave Layburn

P.S. I've Google reviewed your business and...

Great option to see Wellington in few hours! As our cruise ship arrived to Wellington, we got a message from the bike shop that the weather might cause them to cancel the tour. We did the tour anyway and it was great! Genevieve, our tour guide, was very informative and fun. As she stopped to tell us about Wellington & NZ history, we also learn about the social & political dynamics of this beautiful capital city. Most of the tour is on dedicated bike paths, so no need to deal with cars, except on few roads. There is a stop for drinks & snacks in a cafe, before heading to a hill that commands a 360 degrees of the Wellington harbor. Riding the E-bikes made the tour easy & effortless. The guys at the bike shop were extremely friendly & handy, making the whole checking process fast and easy. There are great eateries nearby to get good food...

Switched on Bikes is more than just a bike shop; it's a cornerstone for Wellington's cycling enthusiasts, thanks in large part to its electric bike leasing service. This addition to their offerings isn't just about giving you another way to get around; it's about embracing a greener, more enjoyable way to experience the city. What really makes this place shine, though, is the sense of community and the personal touch that Ryan brings to the table. He's not just running a business; he's nurturing a passion for cycling that's infectious. Whether you're picking up your first e-bike or dropping by for a tune-up, you feel welcomed and valued. It's this combination of innovative services like e-bike leasing and a warm, friendly atmosphere that cements Switched on Bikes as a beloved hub for cyclists...

We had a good three-hour e-bike ride round the harbour and up to Miramar Hill and back. We were lucky to have Dylan as our tour leader. Later he revealed he’s an actor and comedian. That explained his engaging and amusing presentation style, but didn’t deny his wide-ranging knowledge of the city and its history. The fly in the ointment was my partner’s bike. It was fine on the flat but struggled to get her up the hill (and she’s only 52kg…) Due to a similar previous bad experience we had asked specifically about battery power when we signed in. The guy on the desk guaranteed we’d have no problems. My Bosch e-bike was fine. My partner’s was a Shimano…

We had an amazing experience on the bike tour today! Danny was an outstanding guide who catered to all fitness levels, making sure we were comfortable throughout the ride. We got to explore places we would have never discovered on our own, which made the tour even more special. Danny was super friendly and took the time to answer all our questions earnestly. The tour was a perfect blend of riding and learning, with Danny sharing local Māori legends, historical context, and his extensive local knowledge. It was a truly enriching experience, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
