I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this grocery store recently. I wanted to compliment the tidiness & how neat the store's vegetables & fruits were displayed. However, when I attempted to take a photo of the display to share my praise online, this particular old lady staff immediately stopped me in a rude and unprofessional manner.
Her approach & attitude was unfriendly and dismissive and it felt completely unnecessary, not too sure is it because I am an Asian. All this subtle racism behaviour just made the whole shopping experience in the store uncomfortable while having a vacation. If there is a restriction of taking photo/videos, then perhaps you can speak in a nicer tone.
It's a shame as the store itself is well-kept, but this interaction left a sour taste in my mouth. If the country wants to boost their tourism, then the least they could do it’s to treat EVERYONE with the same respect and courtesy, despite the differences in skin...
Read moreI had a very bad experience in this supermarked. A friend had to pay my purchase because the New World did not accept my credit card . Three employees, including two supervisors were unable to solve the problem. They said the manager was away. It was an embarrassment for us both, for me and for my country. People could say: the card of a Brazilian lady was not accepted at the supermarket. I felt humiliated. Before this I had purchased at various stores in New Plymouth, with no problems. In Brazil, surely this would cost at the supermarket a compensation for embarrassment. In NZ, I will seek information at the Embassy. Annexed, the copy of a purchase made shortly thereafter, in another supermarked, and paid with my card. I must to say that in other stores I have been very well received in Nz. Thank very much. Read moreI had a disappointing experience at New World New Plymouth while stopping in to buy a cup of pineapple on my way back to Auckland after completing a work project. As it was my first visit, I politely asked the checkout assistant if a spoon was included, but her response was unfriendly and confused. When I asked again, she called over the morning supervisor, whose behaviour/response with a fake smile in front of other staffs made me feel uncomfortable and singled out. As an Asian customer, I felt I was treated differently, which left me feeling disrespected. Sadly, this first visit will also be my last. Thanks NW NP seen better NWs in other parts of the country...
