Just shared a birthday dinner (Mine) with my husband at Kathakali. initially wanted to eat at Salt but they had no room til 8h30 & it would have easily cost in the $200 range. Secondly, we though the Social kitchen - but they were fully booked. We then remembered that we hadn't returned to Kathakali since over a year and the last time we were there the food was devine. So we rang and booked for two for 7h30. Long story short... we couldnt have been more delighted with our choice. Excellent and rapid service!! But THE FOOD.... OMGoodness.... Out of this world. We ordered 3 starters that Immediately set the tone for the feast we were about to enjoy. Delicious and mouth watering flavours appealing to both the eye and the pallet. We finished with the Main, because we couldnt eat anymore and had to ask to package the rest for home. Amazingly, it cost us less than $100.- !!! And it's a BYO!! So delicious wine at an affordable price. This speaks volumes about this restaurant the quality of meal you will enjoy if you choose this place. We will certainly return to enjoy another meal very soon with friends. I'd give then **6 Stars if it was on offer....

There was only 5 glasses and the water didn't arrive for 30 minutes. We ordered drinks and some never arrived, even after asking about them twice.
The food took an HOUR AND 20 MINUTES to arrive after we ordered. When the food arrived it was cold. Nobody asked how our meals were, even when I went to pay. I told them that our food arrived cold but the guy said "Oh OK well we have new staff". Maybe next time don't hire Mr Bean to run the tables and Laurel and Hardy to run the kitchen.
But the icing on the cake was the stringy, raw pink chicken that was served up (see photo). At least it explains why the...
