Brougham Heights Motel and Apartments — Hotel in North Island

We stayed two nights in a unit with two beds on a mezzanine floor.|Location was great, it had new carpet which was good, bed linen was clean.|The cost was $230 a night, so we were expecting a high quality unit.|But the unit was somewhat tired as follows:|There was a fan on the mezzanine but it did not keep the bedroom cool enough.|The sofa was very uncomfortable, no cushions.|TV in the bedroom part only had one channel operating and it was continuous advertising.|Curtains in bedroom part had several hooks missing.|Venetian blind in kitchen was covered in grease and was not functioning properly.|No hand towel in kitchen.|Toaster was filthy.|No spare toilet roll.|We thought that when a unit is serviced, this would include making the beds. This did not occur.|A notice said to put used towels in the bath if we wanted replacements. We did this and they were still there after the "service" with no replacements.|We will not be staying there again - poor quality for...

We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment. It was nice and tidy and clean. The location is central to a lot of things so easy enough to walk around. The bed was comfortable. Would stay here again. ||There were a couple of cons though (hence 4/5 stars). The upstairs of the apartment (which is the bedroom) was extremely hot. There was a ceiling fan which didn't do much. There was a portable fan but it did not work. We had to sleep with the windows open all night. I noticed other rooms had theirs open too so maybe they need to look at air con up in the rooms. They had air con/heat pump downstairs though. ||The TV remote was missing, but that's only a minor thing. ||We had a fire alarm go off while we were there, and I noticed quite a few people there weren't sure what to do (I know there are instructions in the room). It turned out to be nothing, but they didn't seem to have a warden evacuating people. ||Overall though I'd stay again though - but maybe not in the...

Great location! Right in town! Got into my room, and once I put my luggage away, I sat down to try and watch TV. There was sound but no picture. Had to get the manager to come sort as tv had the wrong cables(How?)! The write-up this hotel states it has soundproofing, no way that is true. The hotel is right next to a very busy dual lane road, so road noise is really bad. I was woken by a truck going past at about 4.30 am and couldn't get back to sleep due to traffic noise! Bring earplugs! Room layout is a bit odd, large room with beds upstairs and everything else downstairs. Sky tv is only downstairs and not in bedroom, not sure why you wouldn't get these connected up. I don't like old spa baths/ showers as there are the air vents in the bottom that are uncomfortable when showering. Overall, this place is quite dated and needs a good birthday.
