The wharf area is a beautiful place to walk. The lakeside is quite nice and very picturesque with the Remarkables in the background. There are plenty of areas for photos, primarily at the ends of the piers, both on the Botanical Garden side and the Steamer Wharf side. Many of the water attractions are around here.
