Browns Ski Rental — Local services in South Island

I had asked for rather difficult to ride, on-piste, narrow base, long radius skis to improve my carving. When I came to pick up the skis, the pair hadn't been returned from the previous renter yet. Since I really wanted to make an effort to improve, I would rather have waited a day than taking a model which wasn't that suitable for my needs. Sam, who I had talked to earlier on the phone, warned about getting a beginner's ski instead (I went by colour, haha!) and made the effort to take out the Nordica Dobermann a few cm longer than would normally be recommended for my height.

I simply had the time of my life on these skis. They were very fast and it felt like I was running on rails. It was super fun to go down the piste with them. I liked the control of them at higher speeds, which certainly enabled my skiing to get better. I made a personal best on them down Powder Keg in Cardrona.

In a small town saturated with ski rental options, I was truly blown-away by the exceptional level of customer service at Brown's. Cohesively, the team at Brown's were extremely accommodating to my every needs from rental in boots to gear and clothing, where they offered both knowledge and expertise.

Even more impressively, after two days of snowboarding I mentioned I had slight fitting issues with my boots and they were so quick and efficient in getting me the perfect pair. It's hard to understate how refreshing it is to come across a team of staff who so clearly put their customer's experience before everything else.

I'd like to especially praise Todd, who provided me and my girlfriend customer service truly above and beyond anything we could have expected. His level of care and friendliness, as well as knowledge and understanding in the products was truly a highlight to our rental experience. I cannot stress enough how fantastic the team at Browns are. My family and I have been skiing in Queenstown for a few seasons now and have hired gear from a number of places, but Browns is head and shoulders above the rest. Super helpful and knowledgeable with kids and adults. Totally happy to make changes if the gear isn't what you're after. They have always taken the time to talk me through ski options for different mountains and different conditions.

This season, I bought a pair of ex-demo/rental skis. They promptly answered my (annoying numerous) questions. They sent plenty of photos of the skis for my peace of mind and even allowed me to split my payments to work around my financial situation. Not to mention, they took the price of a day's hire off the total even though it had been weeks since I hired the skis.
