Waiheke Community Art Gallery — Attraction in Waiheke

Very nice examples of the talent to be found on Waiheke Island at this central point with a really nice display. Helps when you haven't got the time to go to each and every studio. You can see sone artworks from most of the artists here and then decide which ones to visit at their respective studio sites. There are many to choose from so if you can see some examples it saves a lot of driving around the Island allowing time to visit many other attractions such as the beautiful and plentiful beaches and especially the wineries, especially those with restaurants for lunches and dinners, Just so much to see and do, that even the week we are here for won't allow anywhere enough time, which we don't mind, gives us an easy excuse to come back...

It was free. That's always a plus. There is a donation box if you're so inclined. That's also a plus. It's very diverse, showcasing the very different worldviews of the inhabitants of Waiheke Island. That is a big plus, because it is very insightful. The art is actually for sale, and if anything gets sold, the artist gets the chance to make another one. That's just awesome. I just like the idea of creating this space for artists to exhibit their works to the world and a space for the world to enjoy free art. It's a great meeting place that meets the needs of everybody involved. Design...

I went there with a little box of jewellery - earrings and finger rings - to have exhibited there, plus a little selection from the archives of my handmade eyewear, from strangely normal sterling silver "Looking Glasses" to optical absurda Italian acetate frames one of which I dyed lenses and frame together and called it "Rare Fruit". All are able to have your own prescription lenses fitted at Island Eyes...
