Whangamata Beach is an excellent place to live or holiday at. I have been associated from circa 1950 when my parents purchased a section in Exeter Road. Coming from the then workers town of Mangakino every holiday and odd weekend was always such a pleasure. To see it grow to what it is today has been a stunning experience. An experience I hope others experience with their own coastal townships such as Culburra Beach on the NSW South Coast. Whangamata is largely the same today as it has been for the past 69 years.
