Port Road Bakery — Restaurant in Waikato

Came in to make a big purchase yesterday. Whilst packing up the 8 sausages we had asked for the lady serving dropped one of them on the FLOOR! As quick as anything and right infront of me she bent down, picked it up and put it at first back into the serving dish (warmer) with other sausages and then quickly into the bag she was packing for me!

I said "did that just fall on the floor" to which she replied "yeah it did" and I said "oh I don't want that one".....she then removed it from the bag she was packing for me....once again put it BACK INTO THE SERVING WARMER WITH THE OTHER SAUSAGES and tried to grab me another from that same warmer.

I ended up saying "I don't want the ones in the bag or any of the others in the container amd also that warmer shouldn't even be out?!"

The lady huffed at me and slammed the sausages out the back and then proceeded to be really rude with me. It was actually a really bizzare experience. I couldn't really understand how I was there making a huge order and my server was angry at me because I didn't want food off the floor? I said as much to her too.

My reason for this review is that not the lady who served me or the other lady who eventually came out to help seemed to really grasp what the problem was or why I was upset or how gross it is to serve food off the floor.

The food we left with was quite nice. Typical bakery Kai and it hit the spot with the 7 of us staying at the house. However I will never buy food from this place again nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

Unproven Theory - I would bet almost anything that after we left those floor sausages went straight back into the warmer and were served to someone else later on in the day . They weren't binned immediately while we were there just placed on a bench...

I love the Port Road Bakery! The food is always fresh and delicious, especially the bread—it’s perfect for sandwiches. This bakery holds a special place in my heart from childhood memories of grabbing bread and a sweet treat with my family.

My favourite is the roast beef sandwich. It’s super filling and packed with roast beef, fresh veggies, sauce, and some kind of cheesy goodness. They definitely don’t skimp on the ingredients!

The staff are always friendly and provide great service, which makes every visit feel welcoming. I can’t wait to come back again. Big thanks to the bakers for keeping this...

I just stopped here for breakfast today, 10/5/2024. One of the best bakeries I've ever been to. Undoubtedly the best bakery coffee I've ever had (it's better than most café coffee, too), and the two pies I got were perfectly meaty and cheesy. To top it all off, I was stunned at the roast chicken wrap. It's so big that you can't fit it in your mouth, with decent length too. Not to mention the ingredients actually tasted fresh, nice crunchy lettuce and carrot. The Paradise duck sitting outside also gave me a warm welcome 🥰 seems like even he...
