What an incredible place! My brother who has been overseas for 4 years was craving NZ fish n chips, so we headed to Sea and Salt... the recommendations from the lady at the counter were perfect! The food was divine and the service was friendly and on point! Best fish n chips ever!

We were passing through town and got some food from here. The seafood was fresh, and the batter was nice. My favourite were the mussels that were fried just the right amount of time to still have a creamy texture.

We popped in for some fish and chips and although it took 15 minutes, the fresh fish and chips were delicious. Definitely recommend the snapper to have on the beach for lunch. Will be back again.

Assumed this place must be the go too for everyone why it's so popular with long cues and wait times exceeding 1hr. I finally got in there today while it was empty after trying everyday this week, made an order and waited 30mins.

Abit of a let down if I'm being honest, the food was way overcooked and not the greatest at all. Over fried, dark brown fritters, crusty looking hotdogs, crumbed fish that I thought was battered but lucky it wasn't battered anyway going by the looks of the other battered foods, alot of it we fed to the seagulls at the beach.

I might've been better to order from the fish & chip shop a few doors down. I think the only positive thing in there was the young boy tonight helping the young girl on the till. Thought that was great of him, keep up the good work young fella, your service was...

Checked hours online and arrived at the shop just after 7pm to place an order. No new orders being taken as they close at 7.30pm. Really? Returned the next night in an effort to try this place out. Biked there and arrived at 6.45pm this time . . . To find the same situation. Come on, it's summer. Imagine if other shops closed on the basis of how many are at the checkout? We won't try for a third time.

Update: Returned several months later. Ordered at 6.09pm, sign said 30 - 40 min wait. Received order at 7.06pm. Come on! Is there a system? Our regular takeaway store at home can produce orders in 15 mins and be just as busy. Sadly still one star. Meal was...

Stopped here for lunch before heading home on the recommendation of a local. Very small shop, ate in as the weather was rather dull and raining. There is a sign they keep at the counter, so you have an idea of your wait time before you order, which I thought was great. I ordered the Kumara chips with aioli on the recommendation of the local, very good. Hot, crispy, and delicious. Now I know why they are a favorite. I also got the onion rings, they were ok. Hot and crispy, just wasn't what I pictured in my head. I would definitely be back for kumara chips and to try other items...
