brought $95 worth of food for lunch. two beef burgers and the kaimoana pot. the beef burger was so tasteless that both me and my partner couldnt even make it past 3 bites. the beef burger consisted of some weird chunky spread on the bun, soggy lettuce that was incredibly sludgy, no seasoning with the meat whatsoever like genuinely… it was like eating mince that was cooked in a microwave + the patty was slimy??, the bun was soggy to the point it just fell apart while we tried to eat it … was overall unbearable to go past 2-3 bites the kaimoana pot was shocking.. 25$ for not even a handful of seafood which looked like it was slapped in some cheap breadcrumbs, not even evenly around the seafood and then chucked into a deep fryer till it was overly browned. then received a iced chocolate that just tasted like water.. was honestly surprised because all the reviews have something wonderful to say about the food yet i received something that wasnt even edible… theres much potential for this place… but its just so flavourless and expensive for what you think...
Read moreMy first visit to SixFortySix was a couple of weeks ago where I tried their Avo & Edamame smash. The menu states; Avo & Edamame Smash, poached egg, kale, walnut dukkah, feta & toast. I'm usually one to avoid kale due to bad restaurant experience however, having a craving for Avo smash I took a shot ... and was certainly impressed! The dish is deeeelish. Packing a punch of flavour, crunchy toast, crispy nibs of dukkah, perfectly poached egg, a (optional) smidge of butter, and matched perfectly with a side note of feta and lemon wedge. On first impression I felt the cafe seemed dark, however with my eyes quickly adjusting to the lighting and greenery with well nourished plants I felt like I was in my own haven. The staff are attentive, yet allow you to enjoy the place at your pace. Well worth a visit... I'll...
Read morePoor customer service and highly average food. I came in today for brunch with my partner. He received his food and mine did not arrive - no explanation about where my food was, the waiter just walked away. I waited patiently for mine to arrive and after 10-15 mins still nothing. By this stage I went up to ask where my food was and the staff went to check on it. Still no apology or explanation they just blankly walked off to check the kitchen. Then it eventually was brought out to the table, they just placed the food down and walked off. My partner had finished his meal by this stage and the whole experience was ruined. To top it all off the food was not even worth the wait. Will never be returning especially given all the other far better cafes that Whangamata...
