ACCouncil really need to get onto cleaning up their reserves. Here, there are very dead, downed trees still sitting at the waters edge from a long ago slip. Weeds, rubbish, dumped by good for nothing locals on the drive in. Other reserves visited in many areas, especially in low socio economic areas, need maybe teams of ticketed boy racers, young ram raiders, addicts, 'non payment of ticket' individuals etc, to get out and fill their wkends with actual labour, watched over by local police. Ever so hopeful, that some day, people renting in those areas, might show some sort of pride in their own surroundings, if the Council were to give their areas a real overhaul, then have them cleaned up on a regular basis. Remove all graffiti, asap. Don't give them the pleasure of seeing their pitiful work every day! What's happened to mowing grass verges etc?? Weedeating areas?? Could write a novel with what I see as I travel around this country! Is it laziness on the part of certain...

I recently visited Blockhouse Bay Beach Reserve and was thoroughly impressed with the small and lovely setting. The facilities were excellent, including a playground, safe beach, and plenty of sand and grass areas.

The reserve was peaceful and tranquil, and it was the perfect place to relax and unwind. Unfortunately, there was a small downside, as some visitors insisted on breaking the rule of no music systems. This meant that we had to endure loud Islander tunes at times, which detracted from the overall experience.

Despite this, I would highly recommend Blockhouse Bay Beach Reserve to anyone looking for a relaxing day out. The setting is beautiful, and the facilities are top-notch. It's the perfect place to bring the family or spend a lazy day soaking up the sun.

Overall, I had a great experience at Blockhouse Bay Beach Reserve and will definitely be returning...

Blockhouse Bay Beach Reserve, located in Auckland's Blockhouse Bay suburb, is a charming spot offering a blend of natural beauty and recreational amenities. The reserve features a small beach with soft sand, making it suitable for swimming, picnicking, and leisurely walks along the shore. Families will appreciate the well-maintained playground, providing a safe and enjoyable area for children. The surrounding greenery, complete with picnic tables and benches, offers a serene environment for relaxation. Facilities such as public toilets and outdoor showers are available for visitor convenience. However, parking can be limited during peak times, so arriving early is advisable. While the beach is relatively modest in size, its tranquil atmosphere and scenic views make it a delightful destination for both locals and tourists seeking a...

Discover Blockhouse Bay Beach Reserve! This is a pretty spot and the beach reserve is lovely for a play in the sand and a paddle in the water. The pirate playground is ideal for younger children and parts of it including a picnic table provide natural shade under the trees. There is a tube slide tucked in the trees coming down the hill and children enjoy the "sunken pirate ship", Mulberry Bush, Pirate Tower and swings. BBQ, drinking fountain, park benches, picnic tables and public toilets all available. There is a small carpark. You can walk around the path out to the coast (there is no fence along this path). Important note: If you are wanting to swim here it is advised you check the water quality and safe swimming conditions beforehand.

My husband used to go to Blockhouse Bay Beach Reserve when he was young. My father-in-law always took him there for a walk or swim on weekends. Having so much precious memories at Blockhouse Bay Beach, my husband took me there on 24/9/2023. It was winter time at that time so it was a bit chilly. Moreover, the weather was not so good and it had been raining for the whole morning. Anyway, we still enjoyed our romantic walk there and my husband shared with me his fond childhood memories with all his 6 siblings. With him being the eldest, he had to take care of his 6 younger brothers and sister whenever they went to the beach. We will go there again at Easter and hopefully on a sunny day!
