Lovely company class in spacious, skylit studio, well coordinated rehearsals in separate studios in preparation for Sleeping Beauty, with tall majestic Lilac Fairy who commands the stage with her well tuned long limbs and strong focus, and a Carabosse who delighted in the wicked full throttled movements; perhaps this one knew that the handsome Prince would be worth waiting for. A totally active Tatiana was totally absorbed, showing and dancing different parts of the classic she was setting on this company of seasoned and youthful company. Beseeching them to live totally in the moment all the more poignant knowing g that she hails from Ukraine, where dancing from folk to ballet was beloved and now most in exiled or passed. I told the gracious, welcome director Olga Pango how wonderful it was for her to invite Tatyana in. She set a fully danced well paced Sleeping Beauty, and cast so well everyone from Star to Fairy shines…Beauty runs alternated with Cinderella and Swan Lake. I look forward to my next visit, in this historic, beautiful, with a national ballet company which made...
Read moreAfter looking forward to the performance of Nabucco this evening, we ended up leaving after the first Act. This was nothing whatsoever to do with the performance. It was all down to a very poorly run opera venue where many members of the audience were allowed to get out their mobile phones during the performance, showing absolutely no manners or consideration. I have been to many Operas across Europe and there is always an expected etiquette that is followed of no mobile phones during a performance. Not here. Usually there is an announcement to turn mobile phones off but there wasn't one made at this venue. We complained to the management and asked for our money back but they declined. They said they usually make a mobile phone announcement but that members of the audience ignore it. I have never seen that before at an opera and it's the responsibility of the opera venue to make sure the audience have a good experience without inconsiderate people ruining it for others as was...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting this opera and ballet house for the first time. The experience was truly mesmerizing. The architecture of the building is modern and elegant, reflecting a fine blend of contemporary design with classic charm. The performances were breathtaking, with each act outdoing the previous one. The talent and dedication of the performers were evident, making it a night to remember.
However, I must mention that the temperature inside the theater was uncomfortably warm. Despite the beauty of the performances, the heat was a bit distracting, and it seemed to affect not just me but others in the audience as well. It's a shame because everything else about the evening was perfect.
I hope the management can address this issue soon, as it's the only thing that marred an otherwise wonderful experience. In conclusion, this opera and ballet house is a fantastic venue with world-class performances. Just be prepared for a warmer than expected indoor...
