Restaurant Dion — Restaurant in Municipality of Centar

The food is okay. However, the service is very bad. I have been coming to Macedonia for years now and when I am with my in-laws we get served well. Last night however I went for dinner with my wife and we were treated very badly, probably because we spoke English. The fat server with bold head didn't provide any service and just dropped stuff (menu, food, drinks etc.) on the table. At the end of the dinner he refused to let us pay by card. He wanted cash. With a preference for euro's from me as a foreigner. Even though around us people were paying by card. We said we needed the denars for taxi's but he didn't care. Then he overcharged us for some of the dishes (the menu said 120 den for fruit waffle, we were charged 290) and kept a part of the change for himself. Very likely he also kept the money that he overcharged us for himself. We are staying here for a while and we come to Macedonia to see my wife's family a couple of times a year. We would have come back to this restaurant every time if not for this bad experience. We will never come again and we recommend all foreigners and tourists to go to another place to avoid being ripped off by this guy. My brothers and I came here for dinner, and had a 3 course meal with plenty of drinks. We spent about 80 Euro, which is quite a lot in Macedonia. Our waiter was very pleasant and spoke decent English which isn't a given. The food was good, even if a little pricey for Macedonian standards. Overall we had a very pleasant experience. However, once we had finished our desserts, a manager (not wearing a uniform) came over and yelled at us because we were playing cards. This was no more than 2 minutes after we had finished our dessert. We had never spoken to this man, and weren't even sure if he worked here. It was 9PM on a weekday and there were plenty of tables available, so we were in no way taking up space from new guests. He then proceeded to talk to our waiter about us, while very obviously pointing directly at us. Our waiter brought us our bill, and had to apologise on his manager's behalf. Embarrasing. As far as I'm concerned, this manager should be fired. No respect...

The waiters are so rude and greedy that it’s comical. The worst attitude, plus not bringing back the change they owed us, worst experience in Skopje so far.

It was 4 of us, we sat at a table, as the waiter walked by a few minutes later, he made eye contact and without us even opening our mouths, he said “You just got here. There’s that table and then this one, this one. Now you wait.” We didn’t even ask for menus or anything, yet the attitude for no reason. Throughout his service, our waiter kept throwing tables and bottles to our table and walking away. I understand having a bad day or hating your job, but why be so unprofessional?

The worst came later - when we paid the bill with cash, he never brought back the change. We reminded him twice but nothing, he just ignored us. In the end, we were so fed up, we just walked away. Rude and greedy, please do not bother with this place. Horrible...
