A great choice if you're staying in Alesund and want to visit Geiranger for the day. I chose a round-trip, which is 3 hours there and back. You only get 3 hours to explore Geiranger if you chose a round-trip option.
Boat was spacious both inside and out. Had bathrooms and I think drinks were available as I saw a few people with coffee. Plenty of space above deck to take all the pictures and videos of the glorious fjords, mountains and waterfalls. I got lucky with the weather and took tons of photos and videos.
Only thing was their wifi wasn't connecting for me, so I couldn't access the audio guide through the app. I ended using one of their audio guides. They included headphones, but I used my own. First guide wasn't working for me. You'll know if it's working when it's playing music. I saw a few people fiddling around with their guides, so I think there may have been a few not working? The guides were informative, learning about the farmlands, history and the small towns along the way.
Also, it maybe better to print out your tickets than to save it on your phone. The QR code on my phone wasn't scanning. Fortunately, my reservation number was on the ticket, so they just used that to confirm my booking and let me board.
Other than that, excellent and memorable boat ride to and from Geiranger. Staff was friendly and they even slowed the boat down at one of the waterfalls for us to take pictures and videos. Thank you for a...
Read moreGreat cruise with beautiful views through the fjords from Alesund to Geiranger. Takes 3 hours each way and gives you about 2.5 hours to explore Geiranger. Mostly inside seating with windows but allows you to walk around the outside and on the top deck for better views (which can be pretty amazing). They do have a small shop on the ship if you need to purchase snacks/drinks and they do have washrooms onboard.
There is an audio guide throughout the trip which was very informative. However, they'll ask you to download an app to listen to the audio guide on their WiFi which is easy enough to do. Except it wasn't working for our trip. The staff says it has been hit or miss since the system has been implemented. Luckily, they do have the audio guide available on their older hand-held system with provided headphones (you can plug your own headphones in as well). Just a head-up if you get there and find the app not working - just find the hand-held systems in the back...
Read moreOur Geiranger Fjord experience was nothing short of amazing! The landscapes were breathtaking - the waterfalls coming off the enormous glaciers were awe inspiring. The included lunch, tapas & desserts were delicious (made locally!) and thoroughly enjoyed on the boat’s upper deck to compliment the warm and sunny May day. Interacting with the fjord rangers was a highlight (Ioannis and Ken, apologies if spelling is incorrect) - they were happy to field our numerous questions along the way and added a lot value with their animation. Special shout out to Tommy (the tall gentleman, part of the boat staff) who was so lovely and exuded a great energy. Thank you for such a magical experience through the fjords. Highly recommend to all. Best, Sierra and...
