On a scale of all the many Chinese restaurants I've been to in my life, Long Cheng in Ålesund definitely occupies one of the lowest places. The service is inattentive in every respect: The staff only comes to take orders and collect money even when there are hardly any other guests. Chopsticks are only available on explicit request (and then only the cheapest disposable ones). Unfortunately, the quality of the food does not compensate for this. Those who like Chinese cuisine will be very disappointed here. Everything is a bit slimy. What little honor the duck and vegetables had left after microwaving and frying, the chef buried in glutamate. And if anything on the menu is described as "hot," it probably refers exclusively to the temperature. At least the chef's interpretation of Sichuan knows neither chili pepper nor Sichuan pepper. Both are not even available upon request.
SUMMARY: Even if it is temptingly around the corner from the Hurtigruten dock: Better avoid!

I ordered a “chicken soup” for 99 kr and then a “And Chop Suey” (a duck dish) for 309 kr. Both were really delicious. I appreciated that they waited until I finished my soup before bringing the duck dish, since it had to be eaten fresh and hot. The duck skin was nice and crispy, and if it had been sitting in the sauce for too long, it would have lost that texture. I really liked that they paid attention to this detail. 👌🏻
The service was good overall, although the waitress didn’t seem to know much about the dishes. So, choosing the duck dish felt a bit like an adventure. Luckily, my choice turned out great, and I left very happy with the food.
The atmosphere was nice and tidy. The only thing that could be improved is the attitude of the cashier: She didn’t seem very kind. I think that could be improved, and the staff could also get better training to describe the dishes and help customers choose.
