I would give this shop a million stars out of 5 if it is possible. Kenneth is such a nice, friendly, helpful and honest owner who made the car rental an extremely pleasant experience. The shop is located right smack in the city centre, making both the car collection and return super easy. Kenneth also gave an in-depth tutorial on how to operate the car. Coming from a tropical country (Singapore) where we don’t really experience fogging of the windows due to weather, Kenneth was patient in providing us with tips to solve the issue. During our trip, we also met with an accident and Kenneth quickly came to our rescue. We were on a slope and because of poor visibility due to heavy rain, we accidentally drove the car too much to the right, causing the right wheel of the car to be dangling in midair. The car was stuck and we couldn’t reverse the car. Kenneth drove over to find us and instead of calling the car rescue which would cost us few thousands NOK, he called extra help to pull up the car using a rope instead. While he has gone to rescue the car with his friend, he offered the option to either wait at the shop or he could drop us back to our hotel first. We opted to wait at the shop and before going to rescue the car, Kenneth switched on the heater to make sure we were kept warm as it was a pretty cold night. After the car was rescued, Kenneth helped us to park the car (as we were still recovering from the shock of the accident) and even dropped us back to our hotel. We were honestly very touched by Kenneth’s kind gestures. Had it been another car rental shop, we would definitely have to pay additional monies to pull the car back to the road. Definitely do engage the services of Lofoten Rental Car if you are around the area and planning...
Read moreWe had a change of plans already in the Lofoten and found ourselves needing a car on a short notice. We gave them a quick call and secured a car for the next day in a matter of minutes, with zero complications — and they even offered to bring the car to us right that very evening.
At pickup, everything was just easy and laid-back, they were super casual and friendly but totally professional. It honestly felt more like borrowing a car from a friend than dealing with the usual rental hassle. They treated us like people rather than just another transaction. No hidden fees, no unnecessary upsells, just great, honest service.
The cars aren’t fresh off the dealership and may have bit of wear, which actually made it more relaxed — there was no pressure to keep everything absolutely spotless, and it really contributed to the stress-free vibe, letting us enjoy our trip instead of worrying about the car, which worked great.
If you were wondering how can a car rental place have a perfect 5-star rating on Google Maps, this is how. No wonder we saw their cars in every town we visited in...
Read moreWe were looking for a rental car at Svolvaer on August 17 without advance reservation, having arrived at the town previous evening. We could not get even one of the more established car rentals like Avis, Hertz and Europecar to rent us a car for just a day. Our hotel recommended us to try the two local rental companies, Rent A Car Lofoten and Lofoten Rental Car. The first one seemingly had several cars standing on the yard but once again simply refused to rent us one. Whereas Lofoten Rental Car just had one car available on that day and made sure that it was rented to us at a very reasonable rate. It was a manual transmission car and even though I haven’t driven one for several years, it really wasn’t such an issue. Kenneth Jensen, owner of this outfit, is a wonderful individual and went out of the way to make us comfortable. I strongly recommend him and his car rental company to visitors to this...
