Very interesting tour. Our english tour guide provided by the museum did an excellent job. Our visit was worth the price of admission. Be aware that the entrance for the tour is not marked by the street. The entrance is located off the street called "Jiron Lampa." You will need to walk southwest, down the path between wooden walls put up during the onsite construction. My only two othere cautions when visiting are: to be very careful when paying for admission. I paid for two tickets with a 100 sol bill. I was given 10 sol in change with my tickets. I almost walked away when I noticed I was short changed by 50 sol. I looked at the lady selling the tikets and told her that I had given her a 100 sol bill. She immediately gave me a 50 sol bill. Her response was so quick that I suspect she had the 50 sol bill waiting on her desk where I couldn't see it. There was no look of apology, just "next customer." Very interesting. Buyer beware. My second caution is that people may approach you on the way to the entrance of the museum and offer to be your guide for a tour of the museum. The museum provides English or Spanish speaking guides that will lead tours of the museum as part of the admission price. No need to pay someone from outside the museum to...
Read moreYou’re not allowed to film or take any pictures inside the catacombs whatsoever, so whichever reviews you read here that bring those it means they basically ignored instructions or played fool. Now to the visit itself: you’re not allowed in without a guide, which the museum itself provides (so don’t listen to the ones offering their services outside) - but what they don’t provide is any info at all about how the guided visit works. In the end it actually lasts a little over an hour and I wasn’t planning to spend that much time there. It’s interesting alright but I wouldn’t necessarily be going through all those rooms if I were to do a self guided tour. I understand why they do it though, since you’re not supposed to touch a lot of historical objects and not supposed to take pictures in many rooms, including the catacombs, but apparently a lot of people don’t respect that rule. I do recommend a visit but I wish there was more proper information upon arrival. We paid for the ticket and the lady told us to just sit and wait, wait for what? For the next group that the museum guide would be taking, but a lot of people also seemed...
Read moreThe English tour was really bad. First of all, we waited 20 minutes for the English tour to start because we were not allowed to go on our own. Then, our tour guide left without us and we had to catch up to them. Our guide went way too quickly through the whole thing and did not allow us any time at all to actually look at any of the amazing art/ architecture in front of us. There was a no photos rule, but every one in our group was taking pictures (our guide didn’t seem to care) in order to read information later. We didn’t get any time to look at the paintings. There were huge chunks of the convent that our guide skipped and we didn’t get to see.
The entire tour lasted under 30 minutes and felt very rushed. I left feeling like I learned nothing and very unsatisfied as usually I love places like this and...
