+++ Reseña del BAR - PISCO SOUR +++ En esta oportunidad fui a probar el pisco sour en el lugar donde, según las crónicas, nació, TERRIBLE experiencia. La limpieza deja mucho que desear, mesas de vidrio pegajosas y con marcas de bebidas anteriores. Tuve que acercarme a la barra para pedir una orden de pisco sour y también para recogerlo una vez preparado, a pesar de estar ubicado en una mesa. El bartender tiene una premezcla que comprendo es para agilizar el servicio, pero esto se usa cuando te proyectas a una venta considerable, lo cuál no era el caso, tampoco vi que use el mixer o la licuadora en mi sour, lo que es señal que ya lo tenía preparado, probablemente remanente de una orden anterior porque el cóctel seguía frío. Durante mi visita un grupo de 7 personas ingresaron y se tuvieron que retirar al ver que nadie los atendió. Si buscas una opción de calidad por precio similar, puedes optar por el Hotel Bolívar o por Casa Tambo. No lo recomiendo ni para peruanos, ni para extranjeros, busquen mejores opciones.

Estuvimos el domingo 23-3-25 para almorzar en el Salón de los Espejos donde ofrecen menú de 15 y 20 soles. Esta fue nuestra segunda vez ya que es un lugar tranquilo, amplio, con un buen ambiente antiguo que nos gusta y acompañado de música que hace placentera la visita. Pedimos el menú de 20 soles que incluye entrada, plato fuerte y refresco. Los platos son sencillos, de porciones acorde al precio y el lugar. Pueden haber precios más cómodos pero no son el Maury. Para el postre que es a parte había pye de manzana que estuvo muy agradable a 15 soles. Para información se paga por adelantado en efectivo. Incomoda un tanto pero, en lo personal, no tuvimos mayor problema. La asistencia de los comensales no es poca pero no se llega a llenar el comedor que por si es amplio. El servicio no es tan rápido porque sólo hay un mozo por ser domingo talvez pero la espera no se hace notar mucho porque permite pasear la vista y la conversación con la compañía. Para nosotros resulta un bonito lugar donde lo disfrutamos mucho.

Legendario Bar y Hotel Maury, cuenta la historia que en este lugar se creó nuestro cóctel bandera el Pisco Sour. Un lugar acogedor, con mucha historia, dicen que ya cambió de dueños, que unos Chinos lo compraron. Eso no es pretexto para no visitarlo,obviamente su Pisco Sour no es ya de mucha calidad (soy conocedor porque lo sé preparar) Pero no lo juzgo, los tiempos por pandemia también lo han afectado. Siempre e dicho que Lima es de ensueño si conoces su historia así no seas limeño como yo. Invito a ojos cerrados a visitarlo, este lugar no debe morir en el olvido, he venido a Lima desde niño y lo he visitado desde adolescente con mis padres , tíos y amigos. El Pisco Sour los unirá en torno en torno a sus mesas y sillas que mantienen esa prestancia colonial y ese bar surtido, vestido de sillas altas que motivan la tertulia. Enséñenles a sus hijos a conocer este bellos e histórico lugar.

Dear Maury Hotel. You are a national|treasure fallen on hard times. I can imagine the glitterati flocking here 100 years ago when Monsieur Maury was alive but now I am afraid you are badly in need of some tender loving care. You need sizeable investment to restore yourself to your former glory. Having said that and taking into account the foibles I don't regret staying here and dreaming of the way it once was. It has a brilliant location right in the historic centre with the main square Plaza de Armas, cathedral, beautiful churches and museums round the corner. If being in the cultural centre amid historic colonial buildings and quality restaurants is for you then this is the place to be. If you want modern trendy hotels and restaurants and a typical US/European shopping mall then stay in Miraflores. You take...

Almost all the positive reviews left for this place concern the wonderful bar, Pisco Sours and the bar man. Many have been left by people who have never stayed there. The hotel is ineptly run by disinterested staff who provide comical advice on such matters as how to get hot water - ‘run the shower for 10 mins’ (no change) ‘run the shower for 20 mins’ ( ditto) ‘run the shower and the sink for 20 mins’. It might be easier to just admit “there is no hot water”! The rooms are comfortable and clean ( other than dirty looking carpets). The corridors have some nice artwork. The breakfast area is another magnificently panelled room like the bar. This doesn’t quite make up for the terrible breakfast of cold scrambled eggs...

The room was great with a massive bed and a great location for walking to sights around town. However, like others have said previously no wifi staff are no good unless you speak english. I wasn't told about breakfast either, found my own way there then they started removing the food as others were arriving for breskfast. But here is the real kicker upon checking out I asked if a taxi could be called and i was advised that the guard would hail one down for me......No guard.....The first couple of taxi's didn't go to the airport and then I was lucky to enough...
