My friends and I stayed in this hostel for just one night. It's a 30 minute trip from the airport. Airport transfer was arranged by the hostel for a fee. The hostel was located just right across Plaza Mayor - you can see it from the hotel entrance. It's also near the Lima Cathedral. || ||The hostel is pretty basic with a very small lobby and just a sofa to sit in. Room is typical of a hostel - with decent beds, basic decorations, small table and chair in the room and a small refrigerator. Surprisingly, they had a small tv in the room. The hotel is right beside the street so you might hear a bit of people talking and laughing at night since it is a busy area.||||The staff was simply the best - helpful, accommodating and warm. Breakfast place is quite small with just three tables. Breakfast was your basic bread, butter and cheese and unlimited hard boiled eggs. They offer luggage storage just incase you need it.||||For the price, this is a relatively average place to stay. It seriously offers basic accommodation so do not expect anything more than that. This is a good place to stay if your itinerary is mostly downtown and you just want something affordable. If your itinerary is mostly on the artsy side (ie. Barranco) or upscale side (i.e Miraflores), this hotel is a bit a far - it's approximately a 20-30 minute ride...
Read moreThis is my third stay at this property. My rooms are newly renovated, simple, clean and comfortable. It is a small property with a group of very nice and helpful staffs. There is a corner store next door, so, it is easy to buy drink and snack. There are many restaurants around. If you want to be at Mayor Plaza, this is the place. ||||I got to know the owner, Mr Angelo, on my previous visit (he speaks English); he showed me around near the Plaza, helped me arranging tours and even took me out for lunch! So, I returned to this hotel on my recent visit to Lima. Before arriving, I had asked Mr. Angelo to arrange airport pick-up and drop-off services (US$17.00 or 55 Sol one way). He and his new manager, Ms Melissa helped me arranged trip to Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca with a local travel agency. ||||It was nice to know Ms. Melissa on my recent visit, she is a very nice lady. She speak good English and helped me on various occasions. She even spotted an error on my trip itinerary and corrected the booking for me. I had a gift to mail to a friend before departing Lima on Sunday, since no post office open, so I left the gift with money with the hotel staff so that she can post the gift for me. ||||I am planning to visit Peru again and will definitely stay at this clean and...
Read moreStayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful stay. The staff was the best. Melissa helped us so much. She saw that there was a mix up on the night before on our room and fixed it the next morning. She gave us a better room and had the staff help us move. Then, gave us an additional discount on the price. She also emailed us within hours on questions related to the visit before we arrived. She let us borrow a Metropolitano card from the hotel to make it easier to use. She's the best. Cesar was also helpful helping us with our new room and on arrival. The location was primo, one half block off the Plaza Mayor. Melissa arranged a ride to and from the airport at about the same price as a taxi. This was nice after we had a 20 minute gate hold on arrival and a 40 minute immigration wait. The driver was still there waiting for us. The breakfast was fine. Without a doubt, I would stay there again on...
