My only regret is that I can't give it ZERO stars.
This is a case of," you get what you pay for".
We read the reviews, and after a long bus ride we arrived.
We should have turned around and left immediately. We only had 2 nights in Lima and didn't want to spend them looking for another place. We thought we would make the best of it.
Don't do what we did. Just don't book here.
On check in, (we had reservations) we had to....
Make our own bed. Clean the bathroom so we could use it. Take out the trash that was left in the sheets.
There are openings in the walls above the door to your room. That's right OPENINGS. PLURAL.
Oddly one had handprints. We thought, eh. Probably the workers did something a while ago.
Wake up in the morning.... They blocked us in with scaffolding and a ladder in front of our door...
And a guy STANDING on the ladder in front of our door. Able to not only LOOK right in, he could CRAWL right in through the openings. More on that later.
The reviews and photos show a cute, funky old hotel, with kitchsy artworks and statues.
Let me tell you. These people are insane. They have HUNDREDS of reproductions of local artwork laying around, in expensive frames. They have new $400 LCD tvs in the rooms, but have rooms that aren't sealed off or clean. The towels, the sheets... Everything is old. They keep spending money on weird things because people keep coming here to see them.
Stop.
As travelers, we owe it to each other to NOT support these kinds of businesses.
We had to convince the guy doing the work to move his stuff so we could get out. A few hours later we returned to use the bathroom.. And were blocked out of our room. So I used the public ones that the dorms use....
Not only was it not cleaned that morning... As they had the floors and woken us up while doing so...
The bathrooms were just straight filthy.
I'm not even a bit squeamish when it comes to this stuff. But when you have stomach cramps and issues.... Bringing your own toilet paper from the store.. And spending three minutes to clean the pee and poop off the toilet just so you can use it... When you paid for a "private" bathroom is what I would call unacceptable.
How bad were they? Remember the part I said about the guy on the ladder?
Well apparently he agreed with me. He had climbed over the wall, through the opening, and into OUR ROOM TO USE OUR TOILET. Muddy footprints everywhere indicate he TRIED to use the other bathrooms, but he found only our clean enough to use.
We are truly flattered.
Needless to say, that was the final straw. The receptionist gave us another room, which was as dirty if not dirtier, than the first one. Our bus leaves in a few hours... And I wish it was here now.
Im not sure why people keep rating it so highly on...
Read moreWe used this hotel as a pit stop between flights as it was in an area closer to the airport than Miraflores.||Location was good and price was okay but that’s about where it ended ||We found the bathroom and room to be very cold and no heater was around, the power sockets were at such a high level to the unit that you couldn’t charge things very easily as they didn’t lock so would just fall out. The Wi-Fi although had multiple access points was very poor and we only found a good continuous connection in the reception area with the one in our area only working for about 10mins of the time that we tried to use it. The room itself had a very thin door and windows so you could hear everything outside which also didn’t help when we needed to get some sleep after a long flight.||Cheap yes and in a good location but other than that not really worth it especially...
Read moreAn interesting, unusual hotel in the center of Lima. We stayed there for one day to walk around the center. The hotel consists of terraces with rooms. Choose one with a view of the cathedral, it will be beautiful to watch in the evening and at night. The rooms are equipped with a bathroom, there is hot water, fans. Breakfast on the third floor, modest, but not bad. The hotel has a collection of antique furniture and reproductions of paintings, with crystal chandeliers. All this together with the plants is very beautiful and unique. The staff is polite and caring. You can leave your things after leaving for storage, you can call a taxi to the airport, they will help you find a museum, square or building. The hotel is in a very good location, right in the city center, which...
