It’s seldom to see Mother Nature and humans worked together to enhance, protect and save a place like Lio Beach. From the making lot, nothing much to see, then, one’s senses were invited to an over load of attractions. The mature trees lined the well swept grounds. The hiking trail is well defined leading up to a long but natural more setting(un manicured but not wild) adjacent to a stream with small fishes and a young mangrove . Guards were standing nearby to observe any untoward activities and answer questions as the need arise. The area immediate to the beach were adorned with bleachers and roofed thatch for the vacationer’s use. Few meters from the beach are great choices of hotel accommodations : from the priced to the affordable one. The center of the area boasts a good selections of eateries to satisfy the hunger of the tourists. Fresh oyster with calamansi and beer, and standard restaurants. One establishment caught my eye: a taco place in a modified jeepney. Spanish music were proudly played, felt like I was back en la Ciudad de Mexico and my cadera started to sway with the music. A pleasant arôme of yeast, custard and vanilla titillated my olfactory. Proceeded to where the aroma came from: freshly baked almond croissant, Pasteis de Nata and various bread welcomed me. I started salivating like a Pavlovian dog. Last but not the least, a sandwich shop were the owners created a miniature greens house to adorn their creation with. Yes, my stay at Lio Beach was deeply encalcated in the deep recesses...
Read moreLio Beach is located near a private airport and is a must-visit spot in El Nido. It’s just a few minutes off the main road, so I’d recommend booking a tricycle day tour if you don’t have a car or motorbike. It’s definitely worth the trip! I regretted not exploring this area during my first visit to El Nido.
When you visit, there’s no need to pay for anything aside from food. They provide free sunbeds and chairs with umbrellas (available on a first-come, first-served basis). You can also swim in the beach for free!
Rentable items are surfboards, volleyball, paddleboards, and kayaks. Just keep in mind that their surfing season is from November to March.
One of the highlights is a long bridge that extends into the sea, where you can watch airplanes arrive and depart up close. It’s a very scenic spot. We didn’t get many photos because it's one of those places you really want to experience in person.
There are plenty of stores where you can dine, grab a drink, or just enjoy a cup of coffee. Since it was just the two of us, we asked a local guard to take a photo, and he was really accommodating.
If you’re visiting, I highly recommend eating at L'Assiette El Nido. Both the food and ice cream are...
Read moreBeach and overall resort is beautiful and clean. The beach itself is absolutely stunning. If you're in El Nido and want to go to a beach that isn't too saturated, I recommend Lio Beach. The drive in is also beautiful. !!! ADVICE TO TOURISTS !!!: Although this place was stunning, our experience was tainted due to extremely rude tourists who were belligerently and sloppily drunk. If you are a tourist to ANY foreign land, please approach the land AND THE LOCALS with respect. Pick up after yourselves, and be respectful. It is NOT your home, you are a VISITOR. It was disappointing to see people visiting my homeland -- the Philippines, enjoying the beaches, adventures, food, etc. and just disrespecting everything with a sense of entitlement. Please be respectful.
