Do not go to this resort and beach until the sandflea infestation has been resolved. The management will also not tell you about it and will not warn you before your stay. Off lotion doesn’t work and you need another type of bug spray for niknik.
I stayed at Huni Resort on 13-23 March 2022. This was an upgrade from Adlao, then Kalaw and finally, Huni. Food was very good and the staff were friendly.
However, the whole beach was infested with Sandfleas (niknik). No notice or warning was given before my stay and flight. Warning signs about niknik were only put up on the 3rd or 4th day? (Needs to be checked). At the end of my vacation, I had 80+ bites all over my body. I reached out via email to inform them of my problem after my stay and they admitted that they do have an infestation and currently resolving it. I have super sensitive skin and had to seek medical attention for these bites. Fast forward to today, I still have 40+ bites that are persistent. Intra lessional injections had to be done in order to resolve these bites. Topical steroids and oral medication were also needed for my case.
Same happened to a family who stayed in Seda weeks after me. They also suffered from niknik bites during their vacation and no notice or warning was sent which is what I have requested in my email so I don’t post about it.
This is negligence from their end and it is sad to learn that they still did not inform their guests about the...

With the sunset came the sand flies / nik nik. We were bitten very often. After we applied insect repellent spray it was okay. I can highly recommend spraying yourself with insect repellent before sunset so that the insects leave you alone. Trust the strangers on the internet.
The tricycle usually costs 300 pesos from El Nido Town to the beach and 300 pesos back. The drivers will try to make an appointment with you to pick you up. It is not true that there are no tricycle drivers in the evening. There are a lot of tricycles from the beach back to El Nido in the evening. If you need a tricycle you just have to go to the officer next to the supermarket parking lot. A tricycle will then be called for you. This is done so that not all tricycles are waiting on the beach. The tricycles park a little away from the beach in a parking lot and wait to be called by the officer.
Very nice beach. One of the most beautiful in the area. Palm trees and trees provide shade. There are a few loungers and a few chairs. There are great cafes and restaurants right...
Read moreLio Beach is such a great place to relax and unwind! It’s the perfect spot to just chill by the shore, plus, it’s an awesome place for plane spotting—watching landings and takeoffs with a beautiful beach backdrop is a cool experience.
When we stayed last week, the waves were a bit strong for swimming, but it was great for surfing, and we saw a lot of people enjoying it. Regardless, the beach vibe was super chill, making it a great place to just sit back and take it all in.
And oh, the sunset? Absolutely stunning! One of the best views to end the day. Just watch out for niknik (sandflies)—we didn’t notice them during our first four days, but on checkout day, we did spot some near our hotel in Lio. Make sure to bring insect repellent! Since insects are part of nature, they can’t be avoided, but being prepared helps.
If you’re looking for a laid-back beach with a mix of adventure, Lio Beach is worth...
