The Josel Rizal Monument stands tall as a remarkable testament to the Philippines' commitment to preserving its rich and complex history. This monument is more than just a structure of stone; it's a living archive of the tumultuous past that shaped this nation. What makes the monument truly fascinating is the way it encapsulates both Spanish colonial history and the resilience of the Filipino people. It's a symbol of the enduring spirit of the Philippines, honoring a national hero who fought for independence from Spanish rule. In this one monument, you can see the convergence of these historical forces. As you stand before it, you can't help but feel a sense of awe and reverence. You're not just witnessing a physical structure; you're stepping into the pages of history. The monument's grandeur mirrors the significance of the events it represents. Visiting the Josel Rizal Monument is not just sightseeing; it's a journey through time. It's a poignant reminder of the struggles and triumphs that have defined the Philippines. It's a place where history comes to life, and where the past is beautifully and poignantly archived for all to see. If you want to truly understand the heart and soul of the Philippines, this monument is a must-visit.

This national park holds the remains of the national hero Dr. Jose Rizal which is buried inside the monument. Thus the area is named after him. It is guarded as a national shrine by Marine soldiers round rhe clock. This is the prime park of the Philippines where the point of origin, Kilometer Zero is also located. Luneta as it is called, is where the martyr hero was killed by firing squad during the Spanish occupation. He led the Propaganda movement among the Ilustrados which significantly spread the ideas of liberation among the people. Jose Rizal is the author of two powerful novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo which awaken the consciousness of many natives , including the leader of the revolution and founder of the Katipunan, the mass based movement against the Spaniards. Rizal park is a symbolism of the Filipino patriotism, his courage and devotion to peace, his passion for freedom, and yearning for love.

Impressive monument with color guard stationed in front of this memorial. The Rizal Monument (original title: Motto Stella; Latin: "guiding star") is a memorial in Rizal Park in Manila, Philippines built to commemorate the executed Filipino nationalist, José Rizal. The monument consists of a standing bronze sculpture of Rizal, with an obelisk, set on a stone base within which his remains are interred, holding his 2 famous novels "El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere". A plaque on the pedestal's front reads: "To the memory of José Rizal, patriot and martyr, executed on Bagumbayan Field December Thirtieth 1896. This monument is dedicated by the people of the Philippine Islands. Handicap ♿️ doable Allow 15-30 minutes. Parking is non existent close to this memorial. Best to take a cab. Restrooms 🚻 unavailable.

A great place to stroll, highly recommended to bring along a hat and a bottled water. You can adjust your point of view of the monument so the building at the back won't be seen on your photo. There's also this outdoor theatre where they have scheduled plays of Dr.Jose Rizal's death. Twice a day with 20 pesos for the entrance. Beside the JoseRizal Theatre is the Chinese garden, no entrance fee but saw a lot of people sleeping on the railings of the mid temple. Lots of places for photo ops too. Great for Instagram-ing. Across the Chinese garden are the fountains but they were having maintenance by the time I went there (sad) And then I went to the National Museum of Natural History just a couple of walks from the mountain. They also have a couple of sculptures and a huge statue of Lapu-lapu.

This is the monument of the national hero of the Philippines. The most iconic statue of Rizal in the entire country. Reason for that is unlike any other statue of Rizal you can find in front of your local municipality, this one is a mausoleum - Rizal's body is inside it's base. For me, the best time to visit is during afternoon, around 5 pm - where you can enjoy the sunset of Manila Bay and you can catch up with the concert of lights at night. Tip 1: There is no parking area nearby. Better come here on foot Tip 2: No need to bring water, there is a canteen near the Chinese Garden Tip 3: Be careful, you are in the center of Metro Manila... be mindful of your surroundings. Safe trip!
