Wifi poor, room smells cigarette, elevator very slow, shaking bed scary, expensive food and drinks it's not worth their prices, a lot of tiny insects especially on the bathroom, old towels, needs a lot of improvement and renovation. To the management of Miramar pls don't take advantage po sa location nyo yes u are near at the USA embassy pls don't use that pra mag over price sa mga tao especially for senior citizen. During my first stay when I came to my room it smells cigarette so I told them but they didn't do something, when I use the toilet and flush it no water so I need to tell them again so they fix it. During those times they are fixing the lift as well after a couple of hours it was working but slow even I have to hurry the next day to catch my grab car. It was not good experience but I told my husband not to cancel my 2nd booking. Last Nov 11 I called the receptionist and told her that I have a schedule booked Nov 12-15, asked her to find me a room either on the 1st or 2nd floor bec. I can't bring my cellphone to the visa application center I need to hurry going down to catch my grab car, asked her also to pls check the room make sure that it won't smell cigarette ofcourse she responded positively. So last Tuesday nov 12 I arrived I asked if they reserved a room in 1st or 2nd flr but unfortunately they gave me the same room I had last October so fine I gave the 2k deposit and asked them if I can have extra towel but manager says I have to ask the nxt day since they provided 2 in my room so I proceeded upstairs. It's good that their elevator and wifi are working that time. Nov 13 I woke up and checked my phone but there's no wifi connection. After doing my errands I went to their restaurant I ordered breakfast it was good so I ordered again was curious on their dishes and re ordered also a 1 bottle of mineral water I was shocked though its 50 pesos for 500ml but I understand bec they are near at usa embassy so they charge high. Dinner came Im excited for my dish so I went down to their Cafe. I was happy when he served it but when I dug it doesn't have even a tiny piece of meat on it, for me it's very pricy. Nov 14 still no wifi, I was expecting also that they clean my room each day and provide clean towels but they didn't for me that's a must no wonder they have a lot of tiny insects especially in the bathroom area...Nov 15 still no wifi after taking a bath they turn off the electricity, but it was quickly resumed. I went out when I came back I told the receptionist that il be checking out at 11 am. While I'm fixing my stuffs they turn off the electricity again, ofcourse I have to carry my luggage and bags downstairs I told the receptionist what happened to your lift she says that they are fixing something they have to shut their electricity off. They could atleast give considerations to those guests that about to check out with many stuffs or offer assistance since their lift is not working, so I surrender my key and gave my deposit slip she kept on coughing infront of us from day one I saw that receptionist she's already coughing until I checked out while waiting for my deposit she tried to charge me with a beer that I didn't consume. I told her that I don't drink beer. My husband paid a good money pls give a service that people suppose and deserve to have hope this honest review will serve as a wake up call to the management of Miramar Hotel. Anyway salute to the staffs they are very friendly and nice people.Think good, aim good and u will reap good, thank u...
Read moreWe selected this hotel online before our first visit to Manila. As it turned out, for location, we could not have picked a better one. Traveling for business, but with the family along, we wanted a location near family-friendly sights. The Miramar is basically right across the street from Rizal Park, a short walk from Intramuros, and maybe a couple hundred meters from Manila Ocean Park, which is an aquarium with attached shopping and dining plazas. There are several good restaurants nearby as well. Also, the block that the Miramar is on contains a pizzeria, doughnut shop, convenience store, bakery, fast food restaurant and bank. With a family of 8 we availed ourselves of each of these places frequently. || ||As for the hotel itself…the atmosphere was great if you love historic. It is a well-kept example of Art Deco and I am told is one of the only surviving pre-WWII hotels in Manila. There is a central atrium from the 2nd level to the roof that all floors look out over from their hallways. The rooms were small but had mini-refrigerators and TVs. The bathrooms were well-stocked. Because of a 3-person limit per room, we had to book three rooms, and to the best of my knowledge... adjoining rooms are not available. (With a large family, this did cause some inconvenience.) Our rooms had views of the walls of other buildings or back alleys…if you want a room with a view, this will not be your place. ||||The hotel has a nice-looking restaurant on the first floor that offered a piano bar and live entertainment. The menu was somewhat pricier than I wanted to pay for a family, so we looked elsewhere for our dinners. ||||Lastly, the staff was excellent, and provided quick fixes to requests for things such as extra towels, etc., and also were very willing to help with information and directions. ||||So, for us… location and convenience: 5 stars, historical feel: 5-stars, staff: 5 stars, room arrangements: 2 stars, on-premise services such as pool or exercise room: non-existent (no stars?), view: ...
Read moreHaving to experience a bit of history was a treat in this place. The hotel was established since the 1930s. The rooms were clean with a old, homey feel to it. While we were guided to our rooms, the wooden floors were squeeky, which reminded me of the kind of floors we had in my hometown. The room we got was carpeted. The bellboy did warn us beforehand that since the room had windows, we might hear the karaoke down the street. It didn't disturb us too much since the aircon was quite equally loud. The bellboy was kind enough to opt us for a different room in case the noise was not to our liking. The bathroom was nice, with a hot and cold shower that was very easy to adjust the temperature. It has two simple knobs for hot and cold. Other hotels had the electronic ones which are sometimes hard to adjust or is simply unadjustable.
In the morning, we had breakfast. The food was quite pricey, honestly. And we had to wait quite a bit before getting our food. I got the tomato spaghetti with meatballs, while my wife got their must try sisig pasta.
Mine used real tomatoes rather than sauce. I love pasta that is sour, but this one was too sour for my taste. A suggestion, you can add some parmesan to the sauce to cut down on the sourness. The meatballs were too small considering the price. Also, it has bell peppers. Im not a fan of having bell peppers in my pasta. I think, this should only be in pizza. But then again, this is just my preference. Some people like bell peppers in their spagetti.
The sisig pasta was definitely delicious. The chilies is a beautiful compliment to the cream sauce. Both pasta had toasted bread on the side.
Overall, we had a great experience with the place. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Thanks...
