Tourist Trap Alert - Beware of "Mały Powstaniec"

My recent visit to "Mały Powstaniec" in Warsaw's old town was a deeply disappointing experience. The warning signs were apparent from the start when a pushy street tout ushered us to the restaurant. We felt coerced into entering, and it only got worse from there.

The menu looked promising, but the reality was far from it. The prices seemed reasonable, but upon receiving the bill, we were charged double of what we had ordered. This blatant overcharging was not only unethical but also illegal. The food itself was atrocious, leaving a terrible taste in our mouths both figuratively and literally.

To make matters worse, this establishment seems to thrive on misleading tourists. The street touts actively try to lure unsuspecting visitors into their web of deceit. It's a classic example of a tourist trap, and I regret falling for it.

I strongly urge fellow travelers to steer clear of "Mały Powstaniec." Instead, explore the charming old town of Warsaw and discover the many wonderful, authentic dining options available that won't leave you feeling scammed and dissatisfied. Warsaw has so much more to offer than this exploitative restaurant.

It's disheartening to see such businesses taking advantage of tourists, and I hope that this review serves as a cautionary...

When you are walking around the brick city walls of Warsaw Old you will get to a small statue named Mały Powstaniec that represents the child soldiers who fought and died during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, World War II.

It is a sad place to visit, but it is certainly a way to understand what this city went through during the WWII and how today they use this monument to remind their children with the hope of celebrating the end of the war that will never return.

MAŁY / WIELKI BOHATER!!! W okolicach ulicy Wąski Dunaj stoi częściowo zrekonstruowana czworoboczna Baszta Rycerska, a dalej w kierunku ulicy Nowomiejskiej można podziwiać zrekonstruowaną kolistą Basztę Prochową. - Oczywiście jest tu mowa o Starym Mieście i wzniesionym w 1548 roku Barbakanie... Na pozostałościach ww. baszty zewnętrznego muru w okolicach Wąskiego Dunaju, stoi uroczy i skromny pomnik Małego Powstańca - właściwie przy samej ulicy Podwale... Jest to dzieło sztuki współczesnej autorstwa Jerzego Jarnuszkiewicza, wzniesiony w 1983 roku. To naprawdę niewielka rzeźba upamiętniająca dzieci i nastolatków, którzy walczyli i ginęli w powstaniu warszawskim, uczestnicząc w nierównej walce z niemieckim okupantem... Przedstawiony tu mały chłopiec w za dużym chełmie, w mundurze polowym i karabinem zawieszonym ciężko na szyi... - Można było by dopowiedzieć sobie, że zdobycznym. Ta postawa jest niezwykle wymowa, heroiczna, spokojna - by nie powiedzieć zrównoważona - prawdopodobnie przedstawia TO NIEZWYKLE ODWAŻNE DZIECKO w chwili, gdy oczekuje na dalsze rozkazy lub też po prostu odpoczywa po trudach wojny...? Ciekawe jak miał na imię ów MAŁY HEROS??? Pomnikiem oczywiście - na "zmianę" z Warszawiakami - opiekują się polscy harcerze. W okolicy bardzo trudno zaparkować samochód... (Wiem, że się chwalę, ale mój przybrany dziadek Stefan podlewał ten pomnik z czystego brązu - w swoim zakładzie metarulgicznym w Konstancinie pod Warszawą. Ironicznie były więzień obozu zagłady Auschwitz...
