Tour Review: Benagil sea Cave Tour - A Disappointing Experience
I recently had the opportunity to embark on the Benagil Cave tour, and unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. Priced at 30 euros for a supposed 2-hour adventure, I anticipated an exciting and informative experience that would showcase the beauty of the famous Benagil Cave. However, what I encountered was a lackluster tour with a disengaged guide and unfulfilled promises.
First and foremost, the guide's lack of enthusiasm and knowledge was apparent from the start. As someone who loves to learn about the places I visit, I was disappointed by the lack of interesting information provided throughout the tour. The guide seemed disinterested and simply went through the motions, leaving us with a sense of missed opportunities to truly appreciate the significance and history of the Benagil Cave.
Another major letdown was the promise of dolphin sightings. This was a key selling point for me when booking the tour, as I had always dreamed of seeing dolphins in their natural habitat. Unfortunately, this promise turned out to be nothing more than an empty guarantee. The tour took us to various spots, but we never caught a glimpse of these magnificent creatures. It felt misleading and left me feeling disappointed and misled.
Furthermore, considering the price of the tour, I expected a more immersive and engaging experience. Two hours felt rushed, leaving little time to truly soak in the beauty of the Benagil Cave and its surroundings. I had hoped for a leisurely exploration, allowing me to fully appreciate the breathtaking scenery and marvel at the natural wonders of the cave. Instead, the tour felt rushed, leaving me wanting more.
Additionally, the value for money was questionable. While 30 euros may not seem exorbitant, considering the lack of engaging commentary and unfulfilled promises, it felt overpriced. I left the tour feeling like I had not received my money's worth, with a sense of disappointment that lingered long after the tour had ended.
In conclusion, the Benagil Cave tour fell short of my expectations in various aspects. The lackluster commentary, unfulfilled promise of dolphin sightings, rushed nature of the tour, and questionable value for money all contributed to a disappointing experience. I hope that in the future, the tour operators will take steps to improve the quality and overall satisfaction of their offerings, allowing visitors to truly appreciate the beauty of the Benagil Cave and its...
Read moreThe caves were amazing and a must. I’m competent on both paddleboards and kayaks. There are miles of caves, won’t see much due to distances and boat best way to go. We had booked originally the regular boat. We were actually seated on it. Then asked to get off. There was three of us. It was only to accommodate a group of four. Had to wait for the next boat which was NOT what we booked. It was the speed boat. It was so uncomfortable. To think we paid for this. Crammed in like sardines. The necessary life jacket made it worse. It wasn’t a seat. Straddling horse back style. The support’s between spots did not allow space. There were many other of the same style boats, they had seats! Get rid of these. All 3 of us came off the ride with numb, sore backsides. No room to stretch or reposition for comfort. Would give zero stars if we could. However the caves amazing. Not the first review for uncomfortable seating. Encourage others to speak up also otherwise...
Read moreFantastic experience. You are on a 8-10 people speedboat (zodiac type) which is actually quite comfortable. We had a pilot + a biologist/guide talking fluently English & French. Loads of explanations during the whole trip. We followed the coast for the first 20min and then went slightly off the coast to look for dolphins which we found! We stayed a good 30min watching them. Amazing experience! Then we went back to the coast to visit the famous Benagil cave. We didn't stay long there (but it was mega busy). Then we stopped in a quieter area to have a quick 15min swim in the sea (much needed with the heat!). Then we headed back towards Portimao and visited a couple of other interesting caves and tunnels on the way. Quite fun and impressive! In total it took ~2h30min. No rush. Was very pleasant and fun. Both the pilot and guide were super friendly.
One advise: make sure you bring hats and a strong sun cream as it hits you hard during the 2hrs on...
