We stayed at Portus Cale Hotel as one of the choices from Jet2 Holidays.||We stayed in room 111 on the 1st floor.|Room was lovely and big, clean and modern bathroom, with toiletries on the wall and good hairdryer.|Very comfy beds with aircon, which we actually turned off, as was just right for us without it.|Dressing table with mirror and sockets next to it, full length mirrored wardrobes.|Free safe in the wardrobe.|Mini bar, we didn’t use this, for example small bottle of water €2.50, when water from local supermarket was 50 cents.|There are no usb plug points so remember to take your own travel adapters.||As has been mentioned before no milk cartons in the room, although coffee and tea bags, so get a carton from supermarket if required.||Bar on the ground floor with lounge and TV.|Bar service good with good selection of alcoholic drinks.||Breakfast was more than adequate, covered cereals, breads and jams, cheese and meats, yoghurts, various fruits, bacon, sausage, variety of egg.|If you are a big tea drinker then perhaps you will want to take your own tea bags.||All staff were excellent, fluent in English, very helpful on reception, helping us with our excursions.||The only negative to this hotel was the location to the main sights and City centre.|It was at most a 15min walk to the Metro which was very very easy to buy tickets, and there were frequent trains in and out of the centre.|Very cheap I think approx £2.50 to get into the centre, which we used 9 times.||It was a very safe area, although it was a quiet area, there wasn’t much going on, a cafe next door and a restaurant a couple of doors down, so no where else really to eat in an evening, so we made sure we ate in the city centre before we came back.||On one of our days we used the Grayline - Blue - sightseeing bus, which as well as us seeing the sights, also doubled up as our transport there and back to the hotel.|Tickets bought from the reception desk in cash only. Bus stop very close by near the Crowne Plaza Hotel.||Don’t forget compulsory tourist tax.|For our 3 night stay it was €18 for the 2 of us. Had to be paid by cash||I would definitely no hesitation in recommending staying here.|But if you have mobility issues then due to the location you would need to...

Read moreThe hotel itself is modern and the lady who attended us at my check in was great- the check out, not so much. I had booked this hotel through capital one travel with the premises that breakfast would be included (that is how it was advertised) - which was false. Whether a mistake on the hotels part or capital one- I tried telling the receptionist this- who proceeded to then mock me and then tell me that I booked the room through another platform… even though I had the email in my hand. I wasn’t making a fuss about paying for the (very bland) breakfast- I was trying to let him know that when I booked this it was advertised as “breakfast included”. I personally believe I was mocked for being American- although I speak Spanish and understand Portuguese very well- as when we were leaving the man made comments about my partner and I. Either way- the hotel should work on their advertisement and on their staff as well, that man was too old to be acting...
