This is my favorite church on Madeira. There's something special and very peaceful about this place, particularly if you enjoy the sereneness of baroque art and architecture. Be mindful of the church's opening hours, sometimes they appeared a bit flexible, so I was never so sure if they'd open when they said they did. A beautiful Manuelian Gothic church build in the 17th century. Inside there are beautiful baroque altars and there is also a painting of The Last Supper of Christ. Its the second biggest church of Madeira. Definitely...

Bardzo piękny kościół. Poszliśmy na mszę świętą w niedzielę na 8:00. Parafia na bieżąco aktualizuje stronę internetową na Facebooku, więc mieliśmy świadomość, że nie idziemy na marne. Nie miałam pojęcia, jak wygląda manueliński styl, zanim nie weszłam do tego kościoła. Teraz przynajmniej wiem, że mi się podoba. Ciekawe było doświadczenie mszy po portugalsku. Niby niewiele rozumiałam, ale czuło się życzliwość tych starszych kobiet (mężczyzn i młodych osób prawie nie było). Bardzo podobała mi się gra na organach i skrzypcach. Doceniam także śpiew parafian - amatorski, ale szczery....
