Great convenient beach in the city. Has a paid and free section. Can be overcrowded at peaks times such as Friday afternoons where parking can be difficult. The paid section has a limited number of large umbrella style sunshade along with table and deck chairs. The are also at least 10 free large sunshades in the free section. There's plenty of little parks and small pools for children to play on the beach along with net for volleyball. Hiring services for jet ski and other water vehicles available though can be very expensive compared to other countries. There's a free buggy service that runs along the service which is probably a mile long or more to help where you can't bear walking in the heat. Overall great as there's many other attractions close by along numerous eating places.

Katara Beach: It’s only one mile long, and you must pay an entry fee, but this beach is located right in the middle of the city. This beach in the Katara Cultural Village features one of the highest concentrations of water sports that Qatar has to offer. There is a strict dress code precluding women from showing elbows and knees, but Katara remains a very popular weekend spot for locals and expats. The space offers a variety of activities, including fishing trips, parasailing, water skiing, wake-boarding, kneeboarding, and windsurfing. You will also find a bouncy castle in the water, along with banana boats, kayaks, sailing dinghies, and canoes.

Today we went to Katara village and walked near the beach. It was first time in Doha for my mom, I wanted to show her this beach closer and walk there. We didn’t know that we need to pay and were about to enter, but the security guy stoped us and talked to us in a very rude way. Of course I don’t mind of paying but he could say that politely. Not just “u’re not allowed” with raising his voice. I saw some people walking there and I asked him “why these people can walk there and we are not allowed?”. He answered “because they wanted to see these houses” (there were some small houses on the beach). But mostly they were just walking and playing with their kids on the beach. I said “ok, I want to walk and see these houses as well”. I asked him in a polite way to explain me the reason why we can’t go to the beach, he didn’t answer, just kept saying “u’re not allowed”. I asked him “why u’re talking so rude to me I just want to know the reason”. Finally in the end he said “u didn’t reserve, u didn’t get the tickets. I don’t want to talk to u sister, go there” and he pointed to the cashier. As I said I would pay for tickets, if I knew from the beginning. But this is not correct way of talking to the guests. Im not sure if people from management or administration of Katara village are reading these comments/feedback, but if u do please teach ur security how to talk and behave. I felt such a shame in front of my mom because of his attitude. The place is so beautiful and I wanted to visit it again, but after this don’t want to go there anymore. Very disappointed.

P.S. I’ve noticed most of guests there were Arabs (Qatari I guess) and people who works there smile and talk politely to them. But if other nationalities - just poker face and being rude like this security guy. What a discrimination???!!! It’s a second time I’m facing this attitude in Doha in 2 years. Priority to local people only, like other people are not...

Nice beach. One of my goals in my visit to Qatar was to swim in the Gulf and I was able to do so here after a short taxi ride from my hotel. Entry is a reasonable 10 QR and it is another 10QR to rent a table with umbrella which while not obligatory is necessary due to the heat. The beach is well maintained and swimmers are watched by a lifeguard. The water gets deep quickly so if you are not a good swimmer it is best to stay near the shore. The lifeguard will blow his whistle at poor swimmers if they venture out too far but if you swim well there is no problem with going out far. Make sure to bring some sort of sandals or beach shoes because the sand is very hot and it feels like you are walking on a frying pan if you walk barefoot. If you go at a time when it is not very busy it can be a bit difficult getting a taxi back from here so it might be better to arrange something beforehand unless you have a Qatari SIM in your phone and can...
