Boho Social — Restaurant in Doha

We arrived as a group of five without a reservation, fully aware that it was a holiday yesterday (11-Feb-2025) and the restaurant might be busy. However, upon approaching the two female receptionists, we immediately noticed clear racial bias. While they warmly greeted and assisted guests with white complexions or Arab backgrounds, they frowned at us and were visibly reluctant to engage. - I know it was busy but have little compassion.

As Asians from the Philippines, we, unfortunately, recognize discrimination when we see it, but what happened next was unacceptable. We were told to wait outside under the scorching sun, while a walk-in white couple was immediately accommodated—despite the restaurant being empty at that moment. Would it have been too much to let us wait inside while our table was being arranged? This blatant preferential treatment is undeniable, and I urge you to check your CCTV footage for proof.

I have visited this place many times since 2022, often bringing friends, including those on layovers from Europe, because I genuinely love the food and the view. However, this experience made it clear that a group composed entirely of Asians receives noticeably different treatment.

Despite multiple requests for an outdoor table—since I wanted to smoke shisha—we were eventually accommodated but placed in the worst possible seating, right in the middle, directly in front of the stage, despite better options being available. Reserved tables but no one showed up. Again, CCTV footage will confirm this.

While we understand service can be slower on busy days, the racial discrimination we experienced was far worse than any service delays. This was by far the most blatant display of bias I’ve encountered in a restaurant in Qatar. Perhaps next time, I’ll bring friends with white or Arab backgrounds to see if they receive the same “special” treatment.

We expected a memorable holiday experience but were instead subjected to unacceptable discrimination.

I wish that the management could address this issue and ensure fair and equal treatment...

And staying is irresistible, especially with their Iftar buffet: generous, high-quality, diverse, and surprisingly affordable compared to other venues of a similar level.

The main dining area resembles a cozy family café, with colorful umbrellas hanging playfully from the ceiling. The terrace offers a panoramic view of the coast from the hilltop, as well as a private beach and pool area — a truly unforgettable setting. Both smoking and non-smoking zones are available, and thanks to the circular layout and clever zoning, the space feels open yet intimate at the same time.

Service is discreet and attentive. What stood out to me most, though, was the sense of happiness and fulfillment that radiated from every member of the team. That energy is contagious and creates a joyful, celebratory atmosphere — the kind that makes Ramadan evenings feel...
