The meal and experience at Kamachi were underwhelming. After waiting for one hour, my table was called (I was dining alone). Another man with a family of four whose turn had not yet arrived pushed his way ahead and started arguing with the host and waitstaff that he should be seated now instead of me because he had a family. The staff told him that others waiting in line also had families but he continued to argue. Then, him and his family sat at my table and he tried to convince me to move tables and wait. The experience was uncomfortable, and the staff told me to continue sitting. They also told the server to take my order and not to take the family’s order, since they had cut in line. The man in the family continued to argue, and the server was visibly uncomfortable and awkward when taking my order. I had questions about the menu that I was unable to ask, since she was simultaneous trying to take my order and ignore my neighbor insisting his family get served.
The man continued to argue until another server — presumably unaware of the incident — came by and took his order. Around that time, the staff politely and apologetically requested I move to a separate smaller table next to the family. I agreed, since at that point, I wanted to get away from the disturbance.
I would have been fine accommodating the family if there were a shortage of tables and they had waited their turn, and if they hadn’t tried to get me kicked off the table I had waited for. However, it is unfair to me (and all the guests waiting behind me) that someone can skip the entire line simply by yelling loudly enough and creating a scene. In this situation, if I were the restaurant, I would:
(i) develop a plan to address these types of situations, either by refusing to serve people who cut in line and make a scene and/or calling the authorities when they physically refuse to move;
(ii) comp the meals of people who were disturbed by the situation.
As it stands, the restaurants procedures benefit people who make a scene at the expense of people who wait their turn and remain polite. I shared this feedback with, who I presume, was the staff manager and he told me that these types of incidents seldom occur. He also pointed out that the staff made sure to serve me (at my separate table) before serving the family. I found these observations and gestures pretty unhelpful, since there were more meaningful steps the restaurant could have taken to avoid this situation and, given that it occurred, to rectify it with customers disturbed by it.
All in all, the incident ruined my experience at the restaurant. I was also underwhelmed with what I ordered, though this may also be due to being bothered by the incident, which the restaurant...
Read moreThis restaurant is located in Katara, a beautiful culmination of Qatari hospitality and culture. For small groups of 2 you will probably get a seat, waiting time might be bigger for larger groups which is fine with any popular destination. The place is a traditional restaurant but nonetheless the service from the door manager to the service staff requires considerable improvement. One customer sat at the wrong table and the door manager rudely asked the byatanders to move while be pranced crazily towards the customer - there are better ways to manage the situation. The charges are high for a local breakfast place so the service should match nonetheless. We ordered Karak , liver, eggs tomato, Qaymar and bread. Only comment about the food is that the order was late by 25 minutes for these items and the instruction for the Karak allergens was not taken into consideration. When confronting the staff about the time, the response was that it was a ticketing system order rather than “Sure , I’ll check and get back to you” - basic courtesy. The staff looked lost in many instances (possibly they were new). Overall the experience was average given these conditions but trust it could be better once the above...
Read moreworst experience ever, if i could give 0 stars i would. My family and I as well as other families were waiting by the door for more than 10 minutes, god knows how many more minutes to the family before us, and even though the restaurant was half empty we didnt get taken to a table or even welcomed well. No one was there to welcome or take us to a table - to be exact no one was even at the reception table, all we can see are waitresses with food trays. The “manager” was literally in the kitchen, always. Only goes out gives an order to waitresses for a table and goes back in the kitchen again. When i asked a waitress for some help she said she’ll call the manager. And when confronting the “manager” his excuse that he didnt want to take us to a table and make us wait to take an order, well at least let us sit instead of standing for 10+ minutes especially for families with kids, most of them was waiting outside the door. Lots of people were complaining as well as they were leaving the restaurant of the bad service as it will be their last time there for bad and slow service. Obviously my family and I, and other families left immediately and went to other...
